GolfSuites opening in May on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge as Topgolf competitor

The Baton Rouge Top Golf location has done so well that a competitor is opening up about a mile away.

GolfSuites is a direct competitor to TopGolf, which is only about 2 miles from the new range on North Mall Drive. GolfSuites’ 17-acre site is much larger than TopGolf, and markets itself as a venue for recreational as well as serious golfers.
The facility will offer real-time game simulation, opportunities for game improvement and food and beverages for customers.
GolfSuites was originally attracted to the site because of the success of TopGolf, which opened in 2019, says Mark Hebert of Kurz and Hebert, who represented the property’s landlord in the transaction.

Top Golf should have made their location bigger. They'd fill those slots up with no issue.

Don’t see how well this is going to work.
Only reason the idea is only partially stupid instead of completely stupid is that this was already a driving range that had fallen into disrepair as opposed to one being developed fully.
Setting up shop right next to a bunch of Section 8 apartments, though, is fricking stupid.

Baton Rouge goes from no Top Golfs to basically having two in three years.

Yeah I remember the NOLA posters and the Texas posters insisting that Baton Rouge could never support a Top Golf. Outside of the stupid lockdowns for Covid, that place stays extremely busy.
That said, if I were Golf Suites....I'd at least pick a different area. Right next to an existing Top Golf seems unnecessarily risky.

I have told this story on here before. Several years before the Top Golf opened in BR, I approached them at the PGA show in Orlando and asked about a franchise. They rejected the offer as they said that BR didn't meet their "minimum guidelines" for development. I am still pissed about that.
