Interview with Chris Jones

quote:

Harrison: “Was Zach better tonight than what you anticipated he would be watching him on tape? You can be honest.”

Jones: “Honestly, if I’m being completely honest, we knew it was gonna be a battle. He’s continuing to get better week in and week out, and he’s continuing to lead week in and week out.”

Harrison: “But watching that tape man, you’ve got to look at this dude and say oh he is garbage, we should really tear him apart.”

Jones: “Like I said, Zach Wilson is special, you’ve just got to give the guy time.”

Harrison: “Wait, wait, wait, did you say Zach Wilson is special? I think he had a special night but I don’t think he’s special. You’re special because you’ve proved it over time. He’s not special. I’m just saying, Chris.”

It’s one thing to say this on a podcast or radio show, but trying to get one player to call another player “garbage” on NBC 10 minutes after the game ends is a bad look.

The only saving grace here is he was genuinely speaking as if he was a player watching film and talking to teammates.

As his boss, I’d let it slide and talk to him about being more professional.

the garbage part was not about yesterday's game.
It was unprofessional though.

He's better than Desmond Ridder at the very least

Doubt he would’ve called him garbage if his name was Dontavious Wilson instead

Rodney Harrison is a garbage human being but people who have known him since his Western days know that.

American professional sports commentators need to take a lesson from British soccer commentators - be brutally honest and borderline insulting when called for. Speak the truth. Hate the sugar coating that goes on in NFL/NBA on player and coaching performance.

Harrison has been known to put his foot in his mouth from time to time like the time he said "I don't know why Colin Kaepernick is doing all of this because he's not Black".

The only NFL QB worse than Desmond Ridder is Nathan Peterman

If you listen to any radio or daytime sports shows they usually are brutally honest. However if you are gonna cover the actual game I think there is a professional standard to uphold.

It’s also more about the way he was clearly pushing for Jones to bash him.

It’s kind of amazing the vitriol the media have against Wilson while they treat a lot of guys with kid gloves.

why do some want to approach things like that with such decorum ? People rail on these shows for being so bland but then want to clutch pearls when one wants to be honest.

Peyton sounded offended that Zach Wilson was still alive week one.

Imagine if a white guy said this about a black QB

Y’all are gonna blast me, but you know I’m right.
