This is the nature of American Football: decided by a Call.

The nature of the rules of this game, both college and NFL, but especially the NFL, are constructed and interpreted to create this situation time after time after time. It is definitely a core characteristic of the game of American Football.
A key call or no-call will decide the outcome of many American Football games. The Refs will decide many of the games of American Football.
This is a fact, and, I accept it. This fact has adversely affected my enthusiasm for the game.

This is why american football is an afterthought around the world, and soccer reigns supreme.

I prefer Rugby to Association Football, but, your point stands.
I do not believe that this Superbowl Game Deciding Call will help fire international enthusiasm for the game of American Football.

The field being dog shite, and the horrendous officiating throughout the game hurt the brand more than one accurate call late.

Soccer reigns supreme in the world because it requires minimal thought and investment. The dumbest mofos from the biggest shite hole countries in Africa can play and understand soccer. It has nothing to do with a bad call made in the NFL.
I see why you like soccer so much.

You know nothing of worldly matters and that is obvious

What a retarded take.

Your argument is that poor officiating in the NFL is why soccer “reigns supreme” in the world and I know nothing of worldly matters?
You couldn’t be any more incorrect. Soccer is for poors and poors make up the majority of the world.

Yes, the ENTIRE WORLD is wrong and you are correct.
Think about that

As much as we bitch about refs, doesn't seem to happen as frequently in the college game.

All rules favor the offense
Over reffing and over reviewing
Sports are now about putting on an offensive show and then pausing to watch review and debate technicalities

Like the most famous soccer goal in history wasn't a blown call.

Man, y'all really don't watch soccer. People have literally died over soccer officiating

Your post is very close to the topic that I wanted to start after watching the game.
College football largely doesn’t have this issue (huge blown calls late in the game) the way the NFL does. Partially because far fewer college games are close at the end. I can only think of a tiny handful of college games over the last 20 years that were significantly impacted by terrible late game calls.
However, the NFL has all the resources in the world to get these calls right. It’s asinine to leave the decision up to one zebra that is having to make a split second decision, and then making the rules as such to where you have no ability to correct it in real time. It’s a willful negligence on the part of the NFL with their competitive product. Until enough of the owners and the media stop covering for this deficiency, nothing will change.

the Saints/Rams no call is still the most blatantly obvious, rigged, screw job in NFL history .... they had just moved the Rams from St. Louis to L.A. and the NFL and television executives were absolutely HELL BENT on pushing that Los Angeles market into the Super Bowl that year...
anyone who can watch this play and say that this WASN'T RIGGED is straight up lying to themselves ... there was a plan. there was an agenda. and they successfully executed their goal.
funny how all of the "players safety" talk went out the window here in order to push the bigger market team into the Super Bowl. this was absolutely despicable and the NFL should have been investigated over this.

I like the Saints, I remember that bad call, and yet I think it’s plain as day you are straight up - mumbling at the moon- bat shite crazy. So how many entities were in on the fix per your conspiracy theory? Several hundred at least it would seem? Think of all the people behind the scenes. And there’s never been one leak?
If you think something like what you suggested actually happened, then you must also accept that, collectively, NFL execs, refs, owners, associated media driving the story lines etc are essentially the most capable and highly-functioning group of people, involved in any enterprise in the country.

The call was over the top horrible and unforgivable. The official on the play should have been let go.
