I watched the game after seeing the final score, and after the first half I could not understand how we could lose so badly. The first half there was actually good ball movement, cutting/slashing, and great hustle on offensive side. I think this team has some great young players to build around if we can keep them in program. Would love to see what Chest looks like as we don't have any athleticism in front court.

3 pt shooting, sloppy play, lack of ball movement, and terrible D ruined the second half. Had we shot 30% from 3 in first half we could have been up by 10 and who knows how they play in second half with the lead.

We are stuck with cards we are dealt but I see many more pieces this year to field a more competitive team.

This is his second year, he's not "stuck" with anything. This is the roster he put together.

Unlike some I don’t think McMahon is a terrible coach, but I do think he is not a coach meant to bring us through a transition and is not a good fit for lsu. LSU needs someone much more dynamic and charismatic for basketball. M

But he is a nice, classy guy. I don't think coaches are hired for their personalities. You need to bring the energy and the kids will respond.

I think we have 2 players with the skills and talent to be above average SEC players in Ward and Reed.

Both were around the 40's/50's in recruiting rankings when signed. Reed played a fair amount last year and showed minimal flashes of that talent. Ward played sparingly and also showed minimal flashes.

I thought given last year turned out to be a lost year both should have gotten more time than they did once it was the lost that it was a lost year was obvious. They did not and their development was not what I had hoped.

I see some improvement with both, but not as much as I'd hoped. I don't see much of anything but role players on the rest of the roster unfortunately. I could see Williams turning into something in the future, but he's offensively challenged right now.

Bottom line I don't see much hope for anything above slightly better than last year with this team...and that is disappointing.

This is so fricking true. I went to a few games at the PMAC by my fricking self because I loved the style of play, and I really gravitated towards the personality of our coach. He sold his program and he did it passionately. I wanted to support that dude.

I'm sorry to the die hards, but I imagine there are a lot of people like me. I'm hardcore Football and Baseball. I will watch LSU do anything. shite I even watch the girls play basketball now over the guys.

It's just a boring and khaki program. In every way.

I was at the game last night. They're bad. Really bad. Both LSU and Syracuse didn't shoot great from the field and Syracuse, unlike during Boeheim's tenure, was practically flawless from the free throw line. However they're still just not a good team. They can't shoot 3s. Passes at times were awful and became turnovers.

I like how Reid is developing. Baker is a nice piece but if he’s our number 1 scoring option it’s gonna be a long, long, long season

Team is already handicapped without a PG and inability to rebound

It did but we moved the ball and got more easy looks. Second half was dribble down and shoot. Maybe not having Baker and Williams in due to foul trouble hurt more, but likely just reverted to street ball.

Dare I say it, that’s what Will Wade did for LSU

Matt, please get off TD.

In today’s college basketball world it doesn’t take time to build a competitive roster.

Will Wade was in the tournament by year two, hell he won the SEC in year two. Now we literally have an avenue to pay players, what’s the reason for the poor play now? It’s year two and we haven’t seen any improvement, I’d argue that this team could be worse than last years.

Agree and it seems like LSU has no other answer if Baker is neutralized in the paint. Reed isn’t quite ready for that responsibility.

I really don’t understand McMahon’s roster construction.

The roster is fine he just can’t coach. We are two deep at every position with former starters coming off the bench. We have size inside, quickness at guard and big wings but McMahon’s rotations and lineup combos don’t make any sense and didn’t last season either. McMahon is a half court offensive coach who’s offense isn’t going to work consistently enough vs P5 teams.
