Tailgate Tent Safe Overnight?

Been a while since I’ve set up a tailgate on campus. Usually just go to the games but the family wants to set up a small one somewhere this weekend. If I set up our tent frame on Friday evening, what are the chances it is stolen overnight? I don’t care if it’s moved a few spots over for someone that always sets up in a particular space (I respect that). But, I don’t want to show up early the next morning to no tent frame at all

I don't think it will be a problem my buddies and I put up our tent on Friday for Grambling and plan on doing the same tomorrow night

You should more than likely be good. We’ve done it before and had no issues. Maybe specify where you are thinking about setting up and someone could give good insight.

Just don’t put it anywhere near the frat tailgates they might frick with it. Otherwise should be fine but you just never know these days

Don;t put in in someone else's spot

Well if it survived the Grambling game then I should be okay.

Weve had a large tent in the same spot for over 20 years. You will be fine

A tent should be fine, just don't leave ice chests out because those are almost guaranteed to be stolen

I've had one stolen before. Take off the canopy. Chain the frame to an oak

Only put out the frame. A tent frame is worthless without the top, and you can't just buy the top.
We've been putting out frames on Friday's for fifteen years near the Parade Ground and have never had an issue.

Leave just the frame and you should be fine.

I’d leave just the frame, not the canopy top.

Takeoff the canopy and use a second skeleton or a heavy table that you can run a chain to.
That’s what we do and it would take a lot of people to move our setup into a vehicle and wouldn’t be hard to find if they move it to another spot.

AS long as you leave the TV out there with it, the other tailgaters will leave it alone so they can watch the game with you.

I once set up a tent on the parade grounds for LSU v Florida in 2007. Left it up when I went to the game and the whole thing and tailgate spread was gone when I got back after.

Get you about a 5 foot cable with lock. Spray paint the cable bright Orange or yellow.
Lock tent to something.
Very likely anyone walking by looking to steam won’t bother if they see it’s locked up and not worth the hassle.
IMO.

We laid out 3 tent frames for Grambling. Arrived around 10:45am and no issues. Do not leave anything else, only the frames. Spread open your frames to claim more space.
