Speights is too slow...

Sideline to sideline. Perkins has the speed to do it but is undersized for MLB. We do not have a Devin White,Kwon,or Debo style guy at the moment.

We are preparing Perkins for his future employer in the NFL.
As soon as you people listen to CBK about this the happier you will be.
Speights is the answer.

Perkins is bigger than Debo was when he was at LSU. He is about Kwon’s LSU size.

reminds me of when people were railing on Damone Clark.
Everyone on the defense looks confused; physically, he looks and moves like an NFL player. Not sure where you get off calling him slow lol

We don’t even have a DJ Welter type

One play in particular...they threw a swing pass in first half and maybe he just took a terrible angle but he wasn't even close to making the play. What should been a 5 yard gain, turned into like a 20-25 yd gain. I believe it was on their field goal drive or when they missed the field goal.
Loook3d like a lineman just chasing the back.

Much slower than his Oregon St tape
Some have said he’s been hobbled

Kwon and Debo were also small at lsu. Who was the other guy we had? Riley?

Yep, Duke Riley. Played alongside Beckwith in '16. Kwon and Debo were both really fast and all three were great LBs.

He might be worse than DJ Welter? You guys remember that experience right lol

OP is absolutely right. I said the same thing while watching the swing pass with him looking like someone was reaching at his feet while he was running. He looked very stiff and slow.
That might explain why so many long runs were simply runs that outran his angle of pursuit every time due to his lack of speed.

He was one of three defensive players that belonged on the field against FSU (Wingo, Speights, Brooks). I'll give him a pass against Gambling, didn't look like he was 100%.

Give me Penn, Perk, and the Weeks. Dmn they both looked good when they got in. Whit is going to be a problem.

Weeks bros are the answer

Many new starters on defense. House runs a very multiple NFL scheme. Players still trying to figure it out. Did not seem to be a problem a year ago. Wonder if this new group has gelled and if there’s still communication issues they’re ironing out.

I realized this last night after watching a replay of him getting burned around the corner. At first I thought it was a defensive end trying to run down someone. Then I realized it was him but I assumed he injured himself on the play and wasn't full speed. Nope, a few plays later he's running just as slow. Did not expect that from an all conference player.

He does not move like an NFL player lol
I don't know what games you're watching but he's consistently not in position to make plays. He takes bad angles. They're better off just putting Penn in his spot right now or Weeks. If someone said he's hurt I'd believe it. He doesn't look anything like his film when LSU got him in the portal. He looked really good on film.

Pretty sure Speights is dealing with an injury he was in street clothes the second half.

I’ve thought speights has been there to babysit perkins. Speights is a smart player, has more experience than perkins. But I don’t understand not using 5 or 6 linebackers in a game.

I think if you are going to post this you need to be able to answer 1 question: what do you do with perkins when teams are running the ball.
Kelly is right, the guy needs to learn a position. Now that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t rush the passer more than 7 times.
