Question regarding Ben Nippolt

Could he contribute next year? Or are we expecting him to transfer out?

I think his bat is better than what he showed this year. There's a reason Jay had him starting on opening day.
But, I'm not sure he is an everyday player on a championship team. Good UI option to have if that's what he wants to be, but he'll likely transfer.

If they strike out on all other options
I would think he is a transfer candidate

Does he have another free transfer? Don't know whether he graduated from VCU, his coach left, etc.

He’s been in school for 4yrs, but I guess I shouldn’t assume he has graduated

Nippolt was only taken after Pineda and Young signed their MLB contracts a few days prior.
And, I'm pretty sure Dugas and Thompson started at 2b/SS vs. Western Michigan? Although it seemed the plan was it to be Pineda and Young at those spots. Things worked out.
Nippot is strictly a utility guy, if he wants to finish his career as a starter he will have to enter the portal again.

Nippolt was the opening day 2B. He moved to 3B after White got hurt and Dugas came in to play 2B.
Nippolt started at 3B the following day with Dugas at 2B.

Imo, if he is on the roster next year, it means we missed on a few portal players.

He’ll be a CoviD senior next year. He’s already gone from JUCO to VCU to LSU.
What are his transfer options to play next season; back to JUCO?
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back with the team next season and a contributor in some fashion.
This team is going to look a whole lot different next season.

This. If he’s even welcomed back (if we miss on some portal guys), I doubt he’ll be here next year anyway. He’s already been a role player on a national championship team, most baseball players like to actually play baseball.

After this past season where every player was trashed at one time or another on this board do you trust the opinions you are going to get?

I don’t really expect him to make a noticeable impact early on, but Nippolt will stand tall once the weather gets colder.

Late inning defensive substitution.
