If we get a weak 4, which we should, start Money and roll with the HRs he'll give up

Most likely will be solos, maybe 3-4 over 7 innings. Money might even get close to a CG, limiting the back-end puckering we might otherwise endure.

That big time winnable and sets up Skenes and Floyd to go games 2-3.

An 8-5 type victory in Game 1 of the Regionals puts LSU in Omaha IMO.

It all comes down to G1 in Regionals.

Not a bad idea.

As long as we don't employ the shift, him and Dutton could handle the whole game.

ETA: It really does depend on the 4 seed though. McNeese has a real dude, but they also have an uphill battle in their conference tournament.

We could have Little suit up for the 4 seed to walk all of our batters as the offset handicap.

Yea if they win tomorrow they play Nicholls so one of those teams will cancel each other out.

Super regional is the tough one....can Skenes-Floyd do it?
If Floyd gets in trouble, TIgers are in trouble....

I expect the swac or southland winner. That's how it usually goes.

Agreed. If the four seed has a high-quality #1, will be an interesting decision for Jay.

Southland is probably Nicholls St.

SWAC is probably Alabama St and would likely go to one of the Alabama host sites.

Super is easier

Skenes and Floyd can do it. They did it more often than not against the best competition in the country.

Regional is the issue because you need to win three games in a row, which has been an issue for this team. I'm not sure LSU has any other choice but to hold Floyd for game 3. If LSU is pitching their game three bullpen guys against a 2 or 3 seed with three games worth of swings in the box, they will get MS State game 3 shelled.

Also, for the sake of this conversation:

Blake Money in SEC games: 8.1 IP over 6 appearances. 0 HR allowed.

I think I'd go with Cooper instead. Give him a lot of rope.

Yep, sounds like a winning strategy. Just need the bats to come around.

I don't disagree. If we draw the Southland Champion, I say hold Skenes and Floyd, and hope you can hold Coleman, Hurd, Guidry, and Herring as well unless they are needed in relief.

If you can get through game 1 without using those 6, you are in a great spot. That gives you Money, Cooper, Collins, Ackenhousen, Little, and Dutton to get through the 4 seed. I'm sorry but if you can't beat a team from the Southland with those 6 pitchers, you probably just aren't good enough to win it all anyway.

Y’all retards say this shite like you’ve actually said something smart……

Newsflash: if 95% of the teams in the tournament lose game #2, they’re in trouble

I don't do that. Pitch Skenes in the first game and make sure you win it. Then you pitch Floyd against the other team's number two in second game. If you win the first two, then someone has to beat you in the second game of a double header on day 3 and then turn around and beat you on day 4.

If we lose game 1, then we have to use up Skenes and Floyd before we get to the finals and we'll have to win 2 games against whoever it is.

It is a huge advantage to win the first two games. Don't take a chance of messing that up. None of these teams are going to have a deep enough bullpen to play 5 games in 4 days and have any arm talent left to beat us out of the regional.

The first game is basically a mid-week opponent that the team will actually take seriously. Anyone can start that game, but I roll Money, and bank on the Bats winning the game.

Skenes in the winner bracket, then Floyd to send us to Supers.

Skenes - Floyd in supers in two.

Midweek opponents don't start their number 1 guy against us. We already lost once to Nicholls this year when they basically threw a different rag arm every inning. I'm assuming that their Friday night starter is better than everyone they used that night. I don't want to chance it.

He hasn't made it 3 innings in any of those appearances. I like Money and he has a role but there is a reason his appearances have been so short. He is also the type of guy who would not shock me if he started a game and went 5-6 giving up 3 or 4.
