I see the line is not great for him but how did he look otherwise? Just missing location?

I was not able to watch. Really hopeful he can be that guy for us too.

Also, glad to see Christian Little throwing well.

He needs some work but the stuff is there. I believe they’re tweaking a few things and he’s working through it.

Command wasn’t there and they were getting hits when he had to throw strikes. Walked a few and fell behind a bunch.

He was mid 90s whole time he was in game
Just fell behind batters
And ump zone wasn’t helping
This was his first game action since early last season
It’s gonna take a little time

No command but the stuff is there. He may be a work in progress coming back from injury.

Ump was terrible and Southern got some soft arse hits that found holes. Overall I think he was pretty good

That was early on but I do recall Southern getting a lot of short hits on 2 strike counts later on during his outing. I don't say this to try to make excuses for his performance because by all accounts it wasn't good, but he did seem to get ahead on his counts as he went on, Southern just nickel and dimed him anyway. Some of that was bad luck, some of that was not having the best command late in the count. Hopefully he can improve next time around but yeah overall it was pretty rough.

He may have had some jitters, also coming back from injury he may need to get out of his head a little. He wasn’t super sharp but it’s not as if they were teeing off on him. I believe they had 4 hits off of him and 3 were not really barreled up.
He struggled to find the zone first… then he absolutely pounded the zone repeatedly. Which means he made the adjustment…. I expect he’ll make more adjustments. As d be better mentally going forward.

Johnson said he was a bit too amped up. Said he played at a big time program, but they had no fans. He didn't seem overly concerned with it.

It seemed he lacked an out pitch.
Too many two strike hits by Southern.

Not necessarily two strike hits
It was more that they came in hitters counts

He got behind just about every batter and it cost him. His command was off. Once he gets his command under control he’ll be fine. Stuff is there.

They either were tinkering or the pitch calling was just bad. Lot of offspeed stuff, poor pace. Never seemed in a groove

Broadcaster mentioned that he was 17-17 balls and strikes early and then like 3-20, but too much down the middle

He was pretty wild. Some pitches no where close

Some were but Southern figured out early to just swing at nothing but something right down the middle.

Bad outing.

No control. Straight fastball. Good college hitters will catch up to a good fastball if it has no movement.

Riveting. Pitcher with back injury isn't nearly as sharp as he was pre back injury.

More at 10, Bob.
