Max Johnson leaving like this shows his true character

Also the character of his family to allow him to do this. By him opting and going into the portal now before the bowl puts LSU and Garrett Nuss. in a bind. Now LSU has to either ask Garrett to burn his redshirt or LSU rolls with a walkon at QB. Also Max gains no advantage at all by skipping out now. I am not bashing him, he may be a great person but quitting no in this situation he gains nothing and is hurting people he played with. Just my opinion.
I am not bashing him I guess I was just raised differently. I was taught you don't leave someone in a bind. Look I would get it if he gained something by this. But he doesn't. Ok so his brother don't want to come because Max is transferring, cool and I would expect that. But I am sure Jake will wait until Feb. now to sign to find his spot since he was so locked in here before he may not have a back up locked down. I just don't see the advantage Max is gaining by leaving before the bowl.

Don’t bash the kid because you don’t know all the details

He did it now because his brother didn't want to sign with LSU next week.

I wont bash the kid, he had mediocre O-line at best. Just didn't workout. 7 int for career isn't awful. Either he takes a chance to ride the bench or be a cheerleader.

I heard va rumor that he needs shoulder surgery and can’t play in the Texas Bowl anyway.

Or Max has a bad shoulder injury and is getting a jumpstart on rehab knowing he won’t be the starter next year anyways

It’s also an unintended consequence of early signing day
It’s done way more harm than good

I imagine he was told something that soured the relationship. That's not on Max

He's doing us a huge favor, let him go

The bowl game is meaningless. Who cares

I don't understand why they got to leave some long heartfelt message when they enter the transfer portal. I mean you're quitting on the team. We don't need a love letter

Him and his family can take their ping pong champion belt and shove it. I thought they thrived in competition??

Let’s see, quits prior to the bowl, brother (LSU commit) pulls commitment the same day.
Did they just decide not to be a football family all of sudden?
I think the OP is just.

Was always too soft. Hope is changing schools for academics, because he doesn’t have a future of being a high level qb

Loyalty has been dead for a long time -- the transfer rules made it seem like it wasn't, but now that we see unfettered transfer allowance, we know better.

Max obviously doesn't have the chest to play for LSU. He was pretty much a guaranteed starter in 2022 and, with proper coaching, would have been a superstar for the Tigers. He's probably going to transfer to The U where he will fade off into irrelevancy.

Well the new semester starts pretty soon after the 1st of the year. So playing in the game he has to be registered at another school while playing at another. How does that work
