Texas has to love this. I'd assume Okie and Okie Lite would go to the Big 12 North. The Big XII is shite.

Sorry I don't have an orangespunk.com link....which makes things so much more legit. It was a discussion/report on 105 radio here in Dallas.

Baylor already blocked TCU the last time the Big 12 was formed.
No, they didn't. TCU didn't have a snowball's chance in hell, since they A) were a private school with a small, powerless alumni group B) coming off probation and C) sucked arse at the time.

People keep changing history. Baylor DID force their way into the Big 12 by aligning themselves with Texas Tech. The Big 8 expansion was only supposed to be 2 schools, but Tech and Baylor forced their way in. Had they not acted, only UT and A&M would have made the Big 8. People forget how worthless Tech was pre-Leach.

In 1995, Baylor was a decent team who hadn't been on probation. that made them more attractive than TCU and SMU. The only school that has a real gripe was Houston, who is a public school who had the misfortune to be on probation at the wrong time.

In that case are they going to permanent opposite division opponents? Or is the RR Shootout defunct as a yearly event?

Was this a News headline, or just a discussion among the hosts? It makes a big difference.

I think UofH would have to do major upgrades to their athletic facilities if they were to come to the Big 12.

I heard this morning they average like 12-13K a football game...that's just silly.

Did you miss this story recently?

That being said, still don't think the Big XII (i.e. UT) wants UH.

I don't read the Chronicle and don't really care about UofH, so I guess I missed the boat.

It was a discussion w/ one of their reporters. It is as legit as any of the other crap out there and a very compelling discussion for people like me who grew up with the SWC. I would say 90% of football fans in Texas want to see the SWC reconstituted in some fashion. The other 10% are Rice/SMU fans.

It's not about the capacity, it's about the ammenities in and around the facility. The current place is a dump.

It's not about capacity. Robertson Stadium is a dump.

They'd play at Reliant if the stadium isn't complete by the time they'd be in the Big XII.

Say reports out of Dallas. Move OU and OSU to the north division thereby re-constituting most of the old SWC and strengthening the conference presence in Houston and Dallas....the 2 biggest TV markets.

Both TCU and Houston were in the SWC when that conference fell apart after Arkansas left and they were in Houston and Dallas than as well. How did that help than? Just like Baylor, TCU and Houston add NOTHING to any major conference.

If academics are such a big issue why not ask SMU and RICE?

OK, they'll have a nice new stadium that's slightly larger than some Texas HS's.
