First time in aTm history the Aggies sold out their season tickets. Looks like the SEC is already having an impact.

"We sold 1,400 tickets in the last two weeks alone, since all of the SEC talk started," said Miles Marks, president of the school's 12th Man Foundation. "We've sold out of season tickets for the first time in history."

Edit: added the quote

I think this is the first time since they added the end zone seating in the late 90s.

I think the stadium is sold out more because we are winning and ranked top 10.

The SEC talk helps some too but is definitely 1B, behind on field success being 1A

I would think this as well.

That may be so but 1400 in the last two weeks is a pretty big bump. If nothing else, that is about $600~$700K to put towards the Big12 buyout.

Winning is a HUGE plus. I also think a big difference is that the price of a ticket is less than the perceived value of a ticket due to it being final season of Big 12.

You can buy a season ticket now for less than you will be able to buy an OSU (Championship implications), BU (End of 100+ year Battle of the Brazos rivalry), and the game we officially say good bye to Texas University.

It will be interesting to see the scalper values this year.

And if you buy season tickets now, you get first option to buy next season when the big boys come to town.

Folks wanting to get on the list for future schedules has definitely been a factor. Would have sold out even sooner if a move had been announced.

The top 10 ranking and expectation of winning is huge. I think there were something like 76k in the stands to see the game against Stephen F. Austin last year.

Aggies kept showing up even when the games were seemingly less attractive. Stadium expansion has got to happen if we go SEC.

This does not compute with this:

I think that was a very big factor.

Mahootney- Because demand is going to increase.

yes it does

Unlike the ACC and B12, every team in the SEC would have a good number of fans willing to travel to College Station.

I was simply pointing out how you Aggies are already talking about stadium expansion after your very FIRST sellout.

Don't you think that's jumping the gun a little?

Uh, if you think this is our first sellout...

We've been talking about stadium expansion before this. This just intensified it.

I'm just going off of what the OP wrote.
quote:

So you have a sell out. You will most likely continue to sell out. SEC schools consistently sell out. Stadium expansion happens. Consider me informed.
But when the article says this is your FIRST season ticket sell out, and you're already talking stadium expansion, it makes it seem like you're reaching just a little.

There's a difference between "talking stadium expansion" and "doing stadium expansion". It's probably wise to start planning something a few years in advance if you think it might be necessary down the road.

I think you are misunderstanding. Every seat for every game has been sold through season ticket sales with the exception of visiting team allocation and overflow temporary seating that we used for only sell out games in the part.

There are NO single game tickets this year.

In the past we would sell out about 3 games a year. This year we will have a sell out for Idaho.
