very first game every year to be LSU-aTm

This would be cool, even though it might be a sloppy game every year. Opening with a conference rivalry would definitely set it apart from the rest of the nation. The atmosphere would be especially crazy if it was the first game also, just need to make it at night regardless of venue.
Personally I hope we do. It's something all of us grew up with and would be ridiculous if it ended. If it does, LSU would be my first and only choice to replace it. I love being the only college game on Thanksgiving Day.

Putting LSU in early/mid November would still make it a really fun game IMO. That, Arkansas staying early in the year at Jerryworld and the whorns on Thanksgiving would give us a schedule packed full of hate
I don't see any way we play in the SEC in 2012 and don't play LSU. The money to be had if it's Baton Rouge would completely justify paying off any small school OOC to replace them. I will be kind of disappointed if we don't, I'm hoping to make that my first road trip.
I could see it as a possibility for one year when they only have 13 teams
This sounds like a pretty reasonable scenario and one I would be fine with. We will be replacing some major contributors, so it might be best to kind of ease into the conference. I also think they will try make LSU our first SEC game and capitalize off of some of the hype around it, which would be awesome. I'm just excited to see our first schedule, or what it might resemble.
Misleading titles have been pretty common in this thing with ESPN only. It's happened several times with stuff related to us, most notable being when ESPN plastered the headline "SEC votes no on A&M" several weeks ago when it was obvious that wasn't the case, they just met to discuss further action when we applied.

I remember that game and laughing at that drunk a-hole's misery. He used to scam real hard at some of the college bars here but our fanbase managed to keep it quiet because we had never really tasted sustained success in basketball. I was secretely glad he met his demise later on, even though it meant a few years of suffering for y'all. He's already causing typical drunken mayhem at TTech.
I know Grant is a big time name amongst the younger coaches. LSU and MSU have been good in the past as well, and I think we help add balance in the West for basketball. We always played Kansas tough for what we had to work with, I hope we do the same with Kentucky. At the very least both fanbases can bond over Gillispie drinking tales.
If recruiting keeps going the way it's going for both squads, there could be some epic A&M-Arkansas basketball games in the near future.

The Big 12, the 12 team ACC, the B1G and Pac 12 don't happen without the SEC moving to 12 in 1992

Exactly, and I think this example shows how people losing their shite about superconferences might be overreacting. The Big 12 was the only immediate reaction, the ACC didnt happen until around 10 years later, and the others didn't happen until this past year.

16 team conferences could absolutely happen, but to expect it to be that way in 4 or 5 years seems a little crazy given history. I think the SEC and PAC sit at 14 and it stops there.
They're in a tough position. I think their network opening turning into a flaming pile of a shite kind of proved it would be hard to sustain as an independent, but they would have to swallow a big ego hit and scrap it to switch conferences. Who knows what the hell they will do, but I know I will have  ready.

So... Baseball, Basketball and all the other sports will play in what conference?

This also. They take great pride in these sports, especially baseball. They won't just do away with it, and there isn't a reasonable conference for those to affiliate with like ND and the Big East (which doesn't give a shite about football). Another part of the predicament they're in.
I'm not old, but from what I understand/have heard from older alums about the SWC, what we are doing now is pretty similar to what Arkansas did in the early 90's- bolting a fricked, unstable conference for the exact opposite. Unless I'm mistaken, the SEC set the modern quota at 12 and a CCG (which every conference with a pulse just got to this year) with the help of Arkansas and SC.

I would say Arkansas played a very significant role in the "superconference" evolution, as did SC and as we and OU/OK State likely will. Without the first moves by the SEC and Arkansas/SC, who knows what conferences would look like now. I don't consider the Penn State thing all that significant because the Big 10 still remained a conference without divisions or a championship game. It was basically just a slightly larger version of the old status quo conferences.

What I don't know is if Arkansas played the role we are currently playing now, where they instigated expansion and became the 11th team and SC was brought in as 12 to even it out, or both were brought in together. I'm sure y'all know more about that than me.
Jerryworld is not a lively game atmosphere at all.The place is pretty cavernous and sound just gets lost in there. I've been to Texans games at Reliant that have been very loud by pro game standards, so it could definitely have a good atmosphere. I would still rather do home and home with both, or if need be finish the contract with Arkansas at Jerryworld. On campus games are a lot more fun, even if I would have to travel to Baton Rouge every other year instead of having it just down the road.

Pac12 is to damn boring living out here

I can imagine.

Arkansas and LSU would be huge home and home draws for all schools involved, that's why I'd almost rather do a neutral site OOC with a school like Tech or UH. If I go to Oxford I imagine I will fly to Memphis, but I will definitely remember those Arkansas speed changes.

Serious question: do you actually watch football games? 95% of what you talk about has to do with travel times and routes, by both land and air. The other 5% is about early 1990's conference alignment.

But yes, we will have to expedite stadium expansion to make proper room for visiting fans.

I only want 1 neutral site game. I'd rather it be LSU in Houston for selfish reasons, but more than 1 neutral site game in conference would be way too much and I doubt we do it. I'd much rather have no neutral site games than 2.

Why did Google Maps give different estimated times than you? Are you smarter than Google? Who says I can travel the same speed on both roads? What about gas and food options? What about construction? Why is the preferred route from College Station to Oxford on I-20? Why is the estimated time difference on there only 2 minutes? I need answers to all these questions.
