Well, how in the heck does that fit into all of this? Stop trying to torpedo our narrative!

[quote]2) The Longhorn Network announced it would show high school highlights even after the conference voted to keep televised high school games off school-branded networks. Read more: LINK ]

I know this is off subject and hopefully not germans, but isn't it an NCAA violation to show film of current recruits? I thought you could not discuss or show film of kids you are recruiting until after their letter of intent is signed.

With this development, does this sound like OU/UT can coexist in ANY conference?
Just an indication that they might be headed south ...... east!
Think I smell T-Boone in the shadows.

I can't wait to hear UT and Beebe's response to OU's demands.

I know many people keep mentioning on here about equal revenue sharing in regards to A&M leaving, I have to tell you, that isn't why we are gone. It wasn't why NU or CU left, nor is it why OU is threatening to.

Its because this conference and the way it is run is second rate. Everything the big12 has done is reactionary. It was never proactive.
Conferences like the SEC and B1G found strength in synergy. The BTN is making a killing now.

The LHN fiasco was a clear signal to our administration that this conference had no real leadership. It was clear that ESPN and Texas were going to push the limits and none of the other member could turn to our own conference commissioner because he is a baffoon.

Our President and AD made it very clear what their concerns about the conference and the LHN were, and it wasnt about money.

The significance of this article is that is clearly shows that OU won't put up with the LHN in the Big 12

They have to.

Apparently not. I'll bet everything in my pocket, OU doesn't remain in the BIG12-2 with the LHN contract as is.

I don't think Nebraska and Colorado would've had too much leverage last year, but I wish they would've pushed to get Beebe out before moving on.

I actually liked being a member of the Big 12, minus the Beebe/LHN/Texobsessed fiascos.

That all doesn't really matter anymore, but I am glad that OU is pushing this. Beebe is a piece of trash.

Texas wouldn't be showing film of recruits. ESPN owns 100% of LHN. It would be ESPN employees making the decision what to show.

I posted the same thing once and 5 people said I should be banned because of it.

A&M (& OU) voted for schools to do what they wanted with their 3rd tier rights. Is Beebe to be blamed for how you guys voted?

......and those concerns were ALL decided in the favor of A&M, not Texas. No HS games or highlights have or will be shown. Conf members can't be shown unless they agree to it. In fact, Dodds said he would promise never to show a conf member, even with their approval, if that would keep A&M in the conference. Still, that wasn't good enough.

I can see where UT is coming from in this to an extent.

They ARE the big dog. They have the biggest school. They have the most money. They have (I would assume) the biggest fanbase. They pack the most stadiums on the road. They get the headlines.

OU has the success, but Texas has the money.

They're the biggest contributor, so why should they not get the most money? Not saying it is right by any means. Kinda like being in a neighborhood that has an HOA. The rules might not be "fair" but they are the rules and you knew them going in so don't try to change them.

True. The big 3 dominate the fanbases of America. Conference has always had the east, midwest and parts of the west...it's never been very regional like the SEC. It's big 3 are national teams. Now big 4.

If the Big 10 ever adds ND, ESPN is jumping ship and you're in serious trouble.

i think this means the big 12 is dead.

Texas might back down with the LHN, but it will be to another conference where the extra revenue will offset the loss of $$

IMO the big ten may dominate in revenue, but they already do don't they (maybe not dominate but make more than the sec).....However as long as the south is producing better athletes they won't dominate on the field.

Does anybody else think that OU just came up with a list of demands that they knew would never get done so they don't look like they are at fault for destroying the Big 12 and can move to the PAC with a clean conscience?

Just so we get this straight. Do you consider a network that hasnt been picked up by one national carrier a success?

Why do you keep saying that? Im going to need a link. Everywhere that I have seen is that it is a partnership between ESPN and UT. Everywhere says its a joint venture.

That was my initial gut reaction; but I really have not been following this.

I haven't had time to read the whole thread, but this seems to signal that the PAC doesn't see OU worth it if OSU is attached. This may also be true even if TX follows because that would mean TT too. It looks like OU may not have the leaving options it thought.
