Seriously. It's a fantastic job by the OU Public Relations team. Essentially call out UT, all while making every other conference member, including A&M, seem to be the victims. It also allows them to leave unscathed if it doesn't work out. And, forces Baylor to make a really tough decision: continue to be UT's titty sucker and force litigation, or go with the other schools and demand reform.

wow, I'm beginning to think more and more that Texas is going to be forced into independence and out in the cold with their LHN.

It is essentially forcing UT's hand. NO conference is going to let them have the LHN the way it is. So, it's either make concessions and keep the Big 12 or join the Pac 12, or go indy.

Either way, A&M is still gone, just like Nebraska. Too much bad blood there now.

I agree with all of this. Up to this point, bevo basically sat back and laughed at aTm. OU may have just changed the game completely; however, this IS still an unsubstantiated report.

I think that OU may be able to cut a deal with the Pac 12 that brings them and Okie State in and leaves Texas out.

A&M's entry into the SEC was due to Texas' bullshite, so they're not going there.

The ACC is up to 14 members, the closest of which to Texas is Georgia Tech. Unless the conference goes to 16 teams, I don't see them taking the Longhorns.

I severely doubt that the Big Ten will suffer the Longhorns' bullshite well. The LHN stuff can be worked out, especially if they get their cut from it rather than the Big Ten Network, but I don't see Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, and/or Penn State letting Texas call the shots.

I agree teke.
UT is basically being backed into a corner by everyone. And it's pretty clear the last thing they want is to go Indy (at least per comments of their leaders), so I will be curious to see which way they go.

The significance of this article is that is clearly shows that OU won't put up with the LHN in the Big 12 or any conference that might pair the two schools (eg, Pac-12).

Maybe this is Larry Scott using OU to get UT to rework the LHN...wow...my head hurts...

I think they(Texas) try their best to keep Big12 alive.

Try to get TCU from the BigEasy
Poke around with Boise.
and Fiddle with SMU or Huston.

The problem with keeping the Big 12 alive is it only works if OU and Okie State are on board. You can't replace OU with a few other schools and call it a day. It would be a joke of a conference that everyone would see through. Even if UT went undefeated every year, their SOS would sucks and the voters wouldn't respect their schedule at all.

Southwest Conference 2.0 or a hybrid Big 12 / Big East monstrosity would be my guess.

The Big 12 will be down to 7 members if A&M, OU, and Okie State all bolt.

The Big East will be close to that as well, as there's no telling who will remain if the ACC and Big Ten start snapping up programs like Rutgers and UCONN or if TCU decides they are better off staying in the Mountain West.

One or both will have to start raiding another conference to get their numbers up, which means either a merger or seeing which schools are willing to depart a healthy mid-major like C-USA to enter a failing BCS conference.

SMU is the only school I have heard of who is knocking on the Big 12's door as of now.

I just think the scenario for UT staying in the Big 12 and adding schools to replace the losses of A&M, OU, and OkSt is a disaster. It would be essentially held together with duct tape and chicken wire, bound to fall apart again when other bigger conferences came calling on a school who wanted equal revenue sharing.

If they replaced OU, OSU, A&M and Nebraska, with BYU, Boise, TCU and one other (New Mexico, Colorado State, etc.) that would still be a nice conference. Well, nice enough to keep a BCS bid.

They can do this. 100% shared revenue and the LHN becomes the Big XII network with revenues shared equally.

And A&M to the SEC will be a constant reminder forever of UT Greed letting the SEC into the Lonestar State's back door.

You think that Texas will give up millions by getting rid of the LHN? What about the contract with ESPN. Aren't they stuck with the network anyway.

New Mexico? Please.

I stayed in Albuquerque a few blocks from their stadium. Couldn't find any U of NM Lobos gear for sale anywhere once I left campus.

By contrast, I can get stuff for mid-majors like Southern Miss 200 miles away from their main campus in Hattiesburg.
