such Debbie Downers...along with Austin.
Really this just makes me hate Texas even more. Suck snobs they are. There is no way the PAC will be a better conference for them.

According to their radio show about 20 minutes ago, here is where things stand: Texas, OU, OSU, TTech are already committed to join the Pac 10. Big 10 is not in the equation, despite other rumors you may have heard. These 4 schools are united in this particular move. TAMU is strongly considering the SEC. The other schools oppose this for several reasons - one, recruiting in the state, and two, rivalries. The statement was made that IF TAMU goes SEC, the other schools will react by NEVER scheduling TAMU in any sport going forward. We're talking TAMU never playing Texas, OU, OSU, or TTech in any sport for the foreseeable future. That's quite a threat. TAMU is a school built on tradition. They don't build bonfires and sing fight songs about Texas for nothing. The question is, how long are the other schools going to wait? The Pac 10? Will there be a new deadline coming?

They are scared each and every one of them. They all know the SEC is KING and they just can not bring it upon themselves to finish 3rd or 4th in their league every year.

Who do they think they are, Alabama?

ok......so is Utah a backup plan in case Tamu doesn't come to make it 16?

Texas and OU realize the benefits accruing aTm with a move to the SEC if they venture off to a conference where nobody cares about football and tailgating begins four hours before kickoff. Oregon St. will play OU on a Saturday at 10pm central time and nobody will care.
A move to the Pac 10 by aTm gains them nothing in the long run. A move to the SEC gets them a lot though.
Texas' arrogant and elitist fanbase can go to the Pac 10 where they can continue to act high and mighty. Nobody will care. aTm will come to the SEC and a lot of people will care. Fvck Texas.

and yet not a peep leaks from OU saying the same thing
A funny thing could happen on the way to new conference affiliations. A&M and OU could look in the mirror and decide they benefit by acting in their own self interest and doing that they want to do... if they decide to go to the SEC then suddenly Texas would be stuck either following or being the only thing propping up regional fan interest in the new conference they join
It could be - that for all the talk about Texas - A&M and OU could look in the mirror and decide they hold just as many cards

I just want to know where the hell do they find the pacific ocean in Texas? Texas in pac 10 = to miami in the big ten. That is quite the ride from texas to cali.

I've heard Utah and Kansas mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised if Missouri is considered if the Big 10 doesn't pick them up.

OU and aTm would be smart to give up the game with Texas if it gets them to the SEC without UT. It will place a huge wedge in Texas' ability to sell anything new. Texas will continue to be Texas but OU and aTm being able to say they are in the SEC will benefit them in recruiting. Add the increased exposure in the state of Texas for the SEC and Texas would look ridiculous trying to rile up their fanbase for a game against UCLA, Arizona, and Oregon St. Nobody would care.

Gene Stallings has pretty well sold the SEC to the TAMU president. TAMU in the SEC will help them with their instate recruiting, so I don't think they're too worried about it.

I'm getting the impression from other boards and rumors this is DONE. 4 schools to the Pac-10 and aTm's standoff worked... SEC bound. I suppose Utah to the Pac-10 now.
Fascinating turn of events. This has more than a little to do with Mack Brown dominating the series the last decade - whether they'll admit it or not. Insisting on the SEC will only result in more severe beatings.

I would think travel budgets for TX, TAMU, OU and OSU would double if they join the PAC-10. It's not just football but all sports. Denver would be the closest travel for any of them. West coast flights are a bitch from Houston and Dallas.

This is the thing
If OU and A&M realize what kind of hand they are holding then they could actually be the ones to dictate terms
Texas (and Texas Tech and Ok state) is the one that benefits by keeping the big 12 south together.

I don't think the OU president realizes how much power he has in this situation, or maybe he does and I don't realize it. He could cause the Pac 16 plan to fail by simply joining TAMU in the SEC, and it would renew rivalries with Arkansas and TAMU/LSU.

Reading soonerfans it seems a lot of OU fans are for doing what UTx wants them to.

This will help both LSU and aTm recruit the state of Texas. Nobody is gonna give a sh1t about the Pac.
