I don't think the OU president realizes how much power he has in this situation, or maybe he does and I don't realize it. He could cause the Pac 16 plan to fail by simply joining TAMU in the SEC, and it would renew rivalries with Arkansas and TAMU/LSU
Completely agree. A united OU and TAMU to the SEC would virtually stagnate the Texas power over them.

Gene Stallings has pretty well sold the SEC to the TAMU president.
I don' know if this is true, but I certainly hope it is. Stallings is a class act, and I liked him a lot despite the whole Bama thing.

UT and A&M will always play
Georgia and GT always play even though they are in different conferences. Don't USCe and Clemson play every year as well?
My point is, TAMU could have a permanent OOC team scheduled like Georgia and GT

quote:Exactly. A&M joining Texas benefits Texas, not A&M. A&M benefits greatly by going to a different conference because they can sell something different to recruits instead of Texas Lite. Texas is terrified of A&M asserting its independence and making Texas look politically weak, which is why they are issuing threats.
Texas (and Texas Tech and Ok state) is the one that benefits by keeping the big 12 south together.
If this was what was best for A&M, they wouldn't have to threaten them. They could sell the benefit.

Why are you mad at the messenger? He is just reporting what he is hearing.

it would be the ultimate long con, and UT would be the bitch and probably follow them here.

Texas and the other schools are throwing a fit because they know if aTm goes to the SEC they'll be able to snag some big recruits from texas who want to play for the SEC but still want to be in Texas.

The statement was made that IF TAMU goes SEC, the other schools will react by NEVER scheduling TAMU in any sport going forward.
Easy way to fix that. Buy up 25 billboards in Austin. Put the UT logo on it and in giant letters across it "COWARDS", then "-signed A&M" in the corner.
ETA: Its even kind of punny.

Texas wants to surround themselves with schools with excellent academics when considering their relocation......so they bring along Tech and Okie Lite.

Sounds a lot like fear talking there.

Yeah OK Lite and Dez Bryant are asked to join the prestige of the academic institutions that is so very important to Texas. If Texas wasn't so arrogant and full of complete sh1t, someone would like them. As it stands, the only people that likes them are stupid pricks that pop their collars and think they're cool for the sole reason that they live in Austin. But it doesn't work that way.

If Texas A&M goes to the SEC, I predict their program will be above UT's in 5 years.

I'm not listening right now, but I know that the morning guys are guest hosting the afternoon drive right now b/c Chip Brown is doing his celebrity golf tourney.
Chip Brown is the only one I'd trust, he's been dead on with everything the last couple weeks.
