Zach Arnett does not seem like head Coach material. Need to hire Garrett Riley

He’s a good DC. Perhaps very good.

He just seems very rough and unpolished.

He may get hired at Mississippi State as a beneficiary of timing and the situation, but I hope the Bulldogs don’t make this rash decision.

They should hire Garrett Riley. He played under Leach at Texas Tech. He’s the brother of Lincoln Riley who also played for Leach at Tech.

He’s a hot name and will be somewhere soon. Would be a great hire.

He also runs an updated version of Leach’s offense, as Sonny Dykes is also a Leach protege.

I’m not sure why they automatically need to keep the Leach system. Leach was good, but was he THAT good?

Man, that’s a brutal situation to ask a 33 year old first time head coach to come into and try to do well. Miss St needs to grieve and pick up the pieces internally. Let Arnett be the interim for a year a reevaluate in November

Got the team to 8-4 this year and what did LSU do to end up with 4 losses this year.

That system combine with a mobile QB who can run it is exactly what we need, and that mobile QB is supposed to be on campus in January.

Because it’s working and they’ve recruited to that system. Would be a tough overhaul transition.

LSU also played an extra game, but you knew that dummy

He was 19-17 and 11-14 in the sec in 3 years. That doesn’t scream run it back to me. Maybe to a Missouri fan it does.

I agree msu needs a schematic advantage. I don’t know that it automatically needs to be from the Leach tree though

I mentioned earlier giving Jamey Chadwell a call. Pay to him dump Liberty.

I think Riley, and most of the Leach disciples, have updated the system drastically.

Leach did not change much over the years.

I also give Deion a lot of shite and I’m not real high on his prospects as a P5 coach.

That said, I think he can succeed in the right situation. That situation is not Colorado, but it could be Mississippi State.

I said at the time he jumped too early and better opportunities would develop.

This is one of those opportunities.

He had to undo the total lack of discipline that took over the program under Moorhead. Remember Willie Gay punching Garret Schrader and fracturing his eye socket before the bowl game? That’s the final straw that got Moorhead fired.

Everyone seems to forget that MS State doesn’t even have an AD at the moment to hire or even vet these candidates.

Keenum is a sharp guy and I’d honestly trust him to handle hiring a coach as much as I would many if not most ADs. That said it would potentially undermine the hiring of the AD. Then again if the focus is on bringing in a marketing/finance/fundraising type guy for AD that person might not want the responsibility of hiring a football coach right out of the gate.

Because they have a whole team and recruiting class tailored for said system. It’s not like a situation where the team imploded and had multiple bad seasons in a row so the coach got fired and someone new had to come in with a new system and rebuild. The system was working, no need to throw something completely new at the team.

Has Arnett even had a top 70 defense at State? There’s better options out there

Kliff is likely going to get fired in AZ. Would make alot of sense for alot of reasons.
