I would give him a shot. He would be in my top 5, but probably not my 2nd. Would likely go for Gundy, Fleck, or Fuentes before him.

He wasn't ready for the Raiders and that organization just fricking sucked at the time.
He wasn't that bad at USC, but pissed off a lot of admins. They were dealing with sanctions and bad PR at the time too. And yes, he was very immature.
I'd think he learned a lot from Saban about how to run an organization. He wouldn't be in my top 5, but you could do much worse. Curious how FAU does this year in his second round there.

I was thinking about this same thing today and I’m not sure he would want to come here. Sadly, if all that is written on this board about the bos saying no to so much you know O and Kiffin will talk about all of it. Why would any head coach want to come here and deal with all of this crap?

The Raider fire everybody, and Lane was pretty inexperienced for that assignment. USC was under sanctions and any coach would have been fired in that situation.
Lane has impressed at FAU. He will be a hot name next cycle.
