Helfrich

Isnt getting a HC job anytime soon. We could have him for 4 or 5 years potentially. Easy hire of a great OC imo.

I would rather someone to stay a few years. It takes a while to fully implement a system.

I want continuity, so Helfrich/Sark.

Most of this board hadn't even heard of Canada before that Syracuse game, now he has a cult following

Sark won't take the risk of going to LSU. Go to Saban and rehab your career knowing you will be successful and line up for another big time job like Kiffin

He's already got a lot of baggage. If he goes to LSU and fails as the entire staff is overhauled in two years and your career is fricked

You could say that about 99% of coaches. It doesn't necessarily mean they aren't worth consideration. He put up impressive offensive numbers and people took notice. Pretty common.

Helfrich is not that impressive. It's looking more and more like he got by hiding by Chip and Frost. With them gone it's been all Helfrich and all hel broke lose.

I'm with you in this, while I know we're in the minority. I'm just not big on Helfrich. Especially for the amount we would pay. He's not the worst we could do, but I would want some of the other options over him.

Why would you want kiffin for one year knowing that next year there will be more teams looking for head coaches. And in the process your offense has learned from him and now have to learn from a different oc. Usually when u go through present. Then kiffin. And then somebody else in a 3 yr span. Usually never ends up good. Go out there and do some homework and find a person who will be here for 3 or 4 yrs to make a name for theirselves.

What I don't understand is why an OC won't be announced until after the bowl...

Because it's Kiffin and O will wait for him to finish his season at Bama.

I agree, I'd take Riley (Oklahoma OC) or Canada (Pitt)in a NY second. Kiffin is great but go through another OC search in maybe 2 years. frick that, give me a great OC who wants to be here for at least 5 years.

The problem is...I don't think you're going to keep a top flight OC for 4-5 years. If you get a Kiffin, Sarkisian, etc., they're going to be HC candidates within a year or two anyway.

This is where I'm at. The only thing that makes sense here is that O and Kiffin have some kind of pinky promise going on and they're waiting until after the first playoff game (which is the same day as our bowl).

2-3 tops for a moderately successful guy. Cant wait for people die in front of you to get ahead. Heck, UTSA took our RC for god sake

Would love to have Sarkisian,

1. I think he is a better coach than Lane
2. Lane is short term, and this would negatively impact the best team in our division by taking Sabans back up.
3. I don't like Lane Kiffen
