Texas clearly doesn't want a "coach like Mack". He isn't invincible or irreplaceable. What exactly has he done to prove his worth or to be deserving to be in charge of a juggernaut in the past 3-4 years?
This happens all the time. I think it's very realistic that they'd force him out without their guy figured out. That's the way it happens 90% of the time around college football anyway.

I think the sense of urgency comes from having a new AD. Deloss Dodds and Mack were very close and he's the reason Mack is still there. Also a lot of the big money boosters like Mack. He gives them lots of attention, sideline and practice access, etc. But there's a changing of the guard at UT,(possibly a new president too) and im sure the new AD wants to make a splash with a new hire like Saban and pump some energy into the program. Doesnt necessarily mean its a done deal, but it does mean he thinks he can get a big name like Saban. The recent success of A&M has to be a big factor in getting the boosters on board to put up money for a major coaching hire.

It's an indication that the power brokers at Texass aren't on the same page. First, someone leaked the resignation story to Chip Brown. Second, Kirk Bohls (Austin American Statesman) wrote a story saying it is time for Mack Brown to go. There is no freaking way that Bohls writes a story like that without permission or direction from someone powerful at Texass. Bohls is pretty much ball-less when it comes to Texass football.
Texass is a divided camp right now on Brown and a powerful group got tired of waiting and have made their move and are using the media, twitter, etc.. to force this to a head.
I don't think they have their man yet. If this was a coordinated effort on the part of the AD, power boosters, etc.. then yes, they would have had their message out there and this would not be the clusterfrick that it is. The arrogant group pushing Mack out and going for Saban before Mack has resigned thinks there is no way Saban would turn down the opportunity to coach at Texass. That's how many of them think over there. Saban may go but I have serious doubts about it.

Absolutely. It's not about who is coming in...it's a question of whether or not it is the time to move on from Mac Brown.
If that's not the time, then you simply don't make a move at all.

Shula was fired before we knew who would coach at Alabama. I think the powers that be wanted Mack fired a year ago, he was never getting another chance even if he won the big 12 against Baylor. Texas is arrogant enough to think any and every coach will jump at the money, but that's not always the case. I have flipped back and forth on Saban going but even if saban doesn't go you can bet Texas will get a good coach.

When Texas changed their AD the decision was made...and there was a coach in waiting. We all know who the coach is.

2 conf champs in 16 years, no oline picked in nfl draft in 5 or 6 years, strength and conditioning program that quite frankly sucks and puts you at a disadvantage. Recruiting off of ratings rather then feet on the ground. Not developing players at all. Lhn has flopped cause your losing. Loses have been blowouts. Sticking by coaches that need to be fired to long. A fan base that has deserted the head coach. Making number 2 coach money and having Baylor out perform you. Calling your shot that you will win a nat champ in 2013 and going 8-4. Throwing your kids under the bus by saying all you needed was a qb when he has let so many go thru the cracks.
Mack deserves to lose his job and even if they dont get Saban its time to move in a different direction. It would be better with an up and coming coach like Franklin at this point then the same ole shite out on the field by Mack Brown.
He has been "fixing it" for five years with no change in results. He needs to go.

Mack isn't being forced out this year. All the rumors or message board chatter. That's why you are hearing nothing from both schools. Why should they respond to rumors. Y'all will all look like fools when nothing will ever be said ever because nothing is going on at all
