Yes, but i think if Herman leaves Applewhite is getting the head job. Plus i don't think Applewhite cares much for Baton Rouge and LSU

Applewhite was a massive flop as Saban's OC at Bama in 2007. Saban fired him after just one year and Alabama improved dramatically right after Applewhite was fired.
Granted he was only about 27 or 28 back then and he's probably better and more mature now.

I don't know about LSU, but he played for Catholic of Baton Rouge. What makes you think he doesn't like Baton Rouge?

Telling Herman that he has a running tab to pick his coaching staff will go a long way to enticing him to the job. Therefore that is exactly what they should do.
