Multiple sources confirm Mark Stoops will remain the defensive coordinator at FSU. Three highly places sources all told me that Stoops "always was" going to stay. Whatever issues there were, monetary or otherwise, have been resolved. LSU DB coach Ron Cooper remains in play for Auburn.

Why is he so bad? LSU's secondary has been incredible since he has been there.

I think he's failed miserably as a DC and HC in the past.. he is a great secondary coach tho.

I prefer JWjr right now.

DC at MSU in 2003 - worst defense in the SEC that year (39 pts/game)

In reference...
2009 Auburn - 27.5 ppg
2010 Auburn - 24 ppg
2011 Auburn - 29 ppg

Imagine this year's defense giving up an average of 10 more ppg....

I tried to warn you on Stoops, bruh. It'll work out for best. Stoops is likely one year (or less) away from being a HC. Hiring him wld have just put you in the same situation a year from now of looking for a DC.

You do have to question why he is taking $700k from FSU and walking away from $1.1m at AU.

Maybe he doesn't want to move again in 2 years. 3 moves in 6 years is a big pain in the arse.

See what blzr and joeyb said. He is obviously a great DB coach, but his brief tenure as a DC resulted in a horrendous defense. Some position coaches just don't transition up well just like some coordinators don't transition up to head coaches very well.

From what I can tell Philip Marshall is saying there was never an offer for stoops to accept.
