Scott will be wrong some, he can only do so much with information he is given, but I trust him more than any other "insider". I know enough that he has some of the best information out there.

What is the latest here? An FSU friend of mine said that the word in their camp is that Stoops isn't going anywhere:

quote:

From Warchant Message board: 11:30 a.m. Friday Some interesting turns in the Mark Stoops' saga. We have heard now from a couple sources that say it's unlikely that he will accept the Auburn position, even with the rumored seven-figure offer. It's premature to say it's 100% dead but based on what we are hearing it sounds like he is no longer interested in going to Auburn. This is probably based on him researching the situation at Auburn, which obviously isn't very stable with both coordinators recently jumping ship. The head coaching position at Pittsburgh also seems less likely from what we hear. While he may be on a list of possibilities for the job, we've been told that he's not one of the Panthers' primary candidates. However, even with this latest news it's not a complete lock that Mark Stoops will remain at FSU, although it is looking more likely. Apparently there is still another school out there seeking his services. One rumor is the Houston head coaching job, but we hear that's a long shot. The other, which we believe has some merit, is the defensive coordinator opening at Texas A&M under new head coach Kevin Sumlin. Keep in mind that Sumlin worked for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma for several years so I'm sure they are familiar with each other. But it would probably take close to a seven-figure offer to get him to leave.

Well he may have just moved up on the Pitt list... He wants a head coaching job that is for sure...

I did as well. Our D in 08' was the only thing keeping us in most of the games, considering the amount of time they were on the field. I understand why chizik had to get rid of him, but I wish he would have stayed

Heard Stoops has meet w/ Chiz recently and talked through things (not in Tallahasee). Might have been on Monday or Tuesday. Stoops was not overly excited about the meeting afterward. Money could change things, but like I've said all along on Stoops - I don't think he's your guy. I think it ends up being Whitt, JR. or a name not out there.

Thanks, I geniunely appreciate that the majority of bammers on the board know more about AU football goings on than a lot of people literally on the 'inside' at AU.

Good times.

Hold on now, 13 actually does have a good bit of insider info, into both programs (AU and UA). He's not trying to be a douche.

You guys have issues, if a Bama fan is getting info leaks.

Some boards seem fairly certain that Mark Stoops is in play for A&M, it appears as though there may be a bidding war with AU right now

If it were me I would take the TAMU just because new coach, program changing to a tougher conference I think the coaches could have a longer tenure at that program just because if Chizik doesn't do well next year some fingers will start pointing I don't care what Pat Dye says. But either way it would be a good job for him AU has some young talent that just needs some good technique's coaching.

I know you're a Bama fan, but come on. AU is a better job.

Not Bama, but still better.

where I disagree with Lagend. Take the AU job and if Chizik bombs out you're first choice.

I think Stoops and Blake Anderson will be our coordinators next year.

Possible. Would be two good hires, too. USM will name either Johnson or Anderson within days. If it is Johnson then Anderson to Auburn chances would increase. I still say there is work to do with Stoops. If $1.1M wasn't enough to get an immediate yes (about double the $650K FSU offered) then something else is there. That "something" may have nothing to do with AU.
