Dude wanted to have his cake and eat it too. I honestly have lost a tremendous amount of respect for Lane as have many in the media and around the nation.
He was welcome to leave the way he did it, though is just not the way to do it.

Actually, yes. I liked him before and I’ll still like him. Ill like him if he goes to Florida. Not when we play them obviously.I’ll like him if he goes to the NFL. He’s a fighter. I’ve always thought that about him.

He’s not been honest with us. It’s the second time he dicked around and did something like this.
My understanding is that he wanted to put off his decision and not have to decide until after the season was over and through the playoffs. He expected us to want him to do that. But because his family publicly visited other schools and looked in the areas for due diligence, he burned any chance he had of staying. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lane ends up going to the pros after this season or he could go to you guys or he could end up at Auburn Florida, who knows? I just know Ole Miss is not willing to wait. And because he wasn’t willing to make his intentions clear, it became a non-starter. He was invited to move on. He threatened to get lawyers involved. We invited him to try.

Because I know people. Ole Miss is a tight family. We aren’t as big as most schools. The good ole boy network is alive and strong here.

Wish he'd stay at Ole Miss. He's going to cost us a bunch of money, then screw us in 3-4 yrs. It's his history. Why do we not think he'd do it again???
