They think they are above hiring a FCS coach.

No I don’t think so. Rebowe is getting older and I’m sure that Maggard will have plenty of applicants knocking down his door to get an opportunity here. The team is well positioned to be very good next year. Somebody could win a bunch of games over two years here.

Rebowe has done amazing things at Nicholls. He’s in his mid-50’s and seems to be happy at Nicholls. They could name the stadium after him at this point with what he’s done there.

Might we interest you in a slightly used Butch Jones?

Honestly Butch Jones isn't a bad Skip Holtz or Jim McElwain-like bounceback.

No
Napier has a strong staff; a couple of good candidates within.

Yup. I would promote Roberts and rehire Will Hall for OC. I see Rob Sale going to Miss St with Napier if he leaves.

Rebowe is waiting on Tulane to open up. That’s what he wants. Close to family. Dude would recruit his arse off. Now that Orgeron is pretty much recruiting nationally, that leaves many top recruits in the New Orleans region available.

Which makes Rebow an interesting thought. His maturity and proven success at the HC job could provide the stability to keep the possible big train for next year rolling. You don’t need someone to redo anything, just to make sure it all stays together.

Why would Napier leave a winning gig to go get his arse permanently handed to him in the SEC West? There is no upside at MSU for a young coach on the move. Just wait, be patient, become a better HC and then get a much better opportunity.

Going from $1 million per year to $4-5 million per year would be a good reason

Why would they go after Napier? He couldn't even beat Mississippi State.

What about keeping Roberts as DC but with Hall as the HC? I thought there was a rumor floating that Roberts didn't want to be a HC anymore.

But I also agree that once Napier makes the jump, the ULL job is very attractive to the next group of coaching climbers. Someone has to prove it can be done and he will be the first one.

Aside from money, he can jump to a premier program like Dan Mullen did. He's not making the jump from UL to a Florida type job.

Hugh Freeze went straight from Arkansas State to Ole Miss
Gus Malzahn went straight from Arkansas State to Auburn

Before Florida hired Mullen, they got the dolphin fricker from Colorado State.

Napier already has the recommendations and relationships that matter most. He won’t be getting the Alabama job but he could jump to nearly all of the rest of the SEC jobs from here without a pit stop in Starkville. Not saying he won’t take the job, but he can very easily get to a place like South Carolina which is a much better job.

Lmao if you think he’s leaving Tulane for ULL, especially given how they did his mentor and him.
