the Lane Train departs Oxford? Maybe Judge keeps the staff intact.

I think it will depend on how he does in the playoffs as to whether or not he’s considered.

The “for continuity” hires/promotions rarely seem to work out

I’m hearing he is the lead candidate. Players love him and they need to hang on to as many as they can.

If he leads them thru the playoff and they do well...make the semis...make the title game.

I think that happens.

Joe Judge will be the interim coach after Friday... I've seen no indication he's a candidate for the full-time position.

I think they are propping Judge so Ole Miss doesn't get discriminated against in playoff seeding with Judge being the interim.

Interesting though, the committee said last night it won't hurt them in seeding but we are still talking about idiot humans on the committee.

What are some recent examples at P4 contending programs that continuity hires didn’t work out?

There are examples of when it absolutely did work out (Ryan Day, Dabo Swinney)

Coach O lead lsu to a title after promotion from interim coach.

Sharronne Moore has Mich in contention (barely) and they beat Ohio state last year. Most would say it has worked out so far.

I am sure there quite a few examples of when it doesn’t work out but I don’t think it’s “rare” for it to work out.

Judge was once viewed as an up and comer, just was not nearly ready for the big job with that dysfunctional organization and media pressure

Tough to know from the outside how he’s done coaching that position with lane there though

Can add Lincoln Riley taking over from Stoops to this list.

Counterpoints are Jimmy Lake taking over from Petersen at UW, Helfrich from Kelly at Oregon (although to be fair he made the natty)
