He will get a pass this year because of injuries

Don't think they would have won the south this year but hard to be competitive when you've been hit as hard as they have

He gets a free pass because of deshaun Watson

If they don't win that division next year I think he's gone

If you were going to fire him, it should've been whenever he started Tom savage over Watson in week 1

Yeah absolutely mind boggling. I am a Texans fan and I don't think he's a great coach, but Rick Smith is a bigger issue than BOB.

To O'Brien's credit the offense looked incredible when Watson was healthy

It was pretty headscratching how creative that offense was for a couple weeks whenever for the rest of his tenure there and even for the first couple weeks of Watson, he looks like he's calling plays from the generic "pro" offense in NCAA14

If anything I think a good coach will be more creative within his offense when trying to hide a bad QB vs having a stud like Watson slinging it

He will get another NFL job in 2 seconds if he gets fired there.

Not saying he is some world beater but hes won his division twice in three years. He will get another look.

agreed. the Texans don't seem to have an overall plan to improve their club. they have barely made the playoffs in a weak division and that was definitely their ceiling. their OL and skill players just seem to be neglected at draft time and until Watson, so was the QB position.

With horrible QBs. They're bad right now, but they're back to Savage (who just got a concussion) and are out their best defensive player. Ask Nick Saban how not having a good QB in the NFL works...

He might get a pass (and maybe he deserves one), but the noise on the radio is hinting otherwise.

If they fire O Brien and keep Smith it will be extremely disappointing. I am fine with them getting rid of O Brien but clean house while you’re at it. Smith should have been gone when they fired Kubiak

The Texans stick out like a sore thumb right now with the Astros and Rockets being so well run

I don't think he should be fired. I think Rick Smith really needs to be considered though. It took a long time and a lot of missing to get to Watson at qb. The o-line sucks. They never really adequately replaced Arian foster. They have never really been able to put two good receivers on the field (minus the hopkins/johnson overlap).

Smith should have been gone 3 years ago. As far as Bill goes, most were excited to when the hire was made, but he has done no better that Kub. He’s supposed to be a QB “whisper”, Texans have had some of the worse QB play in the league. Very disappointing. I understand one more year due to injuries, but the way he coached the first few weeks of the season is why I think he should be let go.

If you look at Hoyer and Fitzpatricks’s #s in Houston OB did a pretty amazing job with those guys. I still can’t believe they kept Smith when the fired Kubiak watch O’Brien win a Super Bowl somewhere else too

Lance Z has been saying he’s heard they are looking at Frank Reich. That would be fitting given his role in Houston sports infamy

The incessant tinkering with the QB spot between Mallet and Hoyer, Osweiler and Savage and then Savage and Watson (including inexplicably starting Savage over Watson) is what has soured me on OB. But again, I am fine with them keeping him for another year. Smith is long overdue. If they fire OB and keep Rick it will be extremely disappointing

I will admit I didn't pay attention to preseason, but did Watson outplay Savage in preseason practice and preseason games?
