Unless Brian Kelly feels personally driven or motivated to show that his performance, or lack thereof, at LSU was a fluke, WHY would he ever coach again?

He's 64 years old, and with LSU capitulating on his buyout, he will collect $54 million over the next 6 years to wake up when he chooses, stay up late if he wants to, improve his golf game, indulge other hobbies, help his kids start and become established in their careers, be a good grandfather when that time comes, etc.

Based on Kelly's sideline demeanor, lack of involvement in game planning, statements made to the press both before and after games, and other indicators, there is nothing in his body language or public statements that says he wants to coach again.

Of course mine is only one opinion, but to me, floating Kelly's name as a possible replacement for this or that coach is nothing more than writers attempting to publish "X" number of words per day or week.

He's obligated by the terms of the buyout to make good faith efforts to find other employment.

Now we all know what that means. He's gonna put about as much effort into that as he did into his coaching. But it is in the terms.

He's a lazy dork. He won't be coaching again.

He’s gonna put more effort into not working for LSU than he did while on campus

It'll be a 5-minute phone call once a month to someone he knows is guaranteed not to hire him. And he'll document the call in case LSU's attorneys come looking for proof.

Ed Orgeon is one of only 6 coaches to have won a NC in the last 10 years. And he did so with arguably the best performance of any team in that 10 year period. Yet, he hasn't gotten as much as a sniff at being power conf. HC.

As a coach, he is a waste of effort.

He would probably be very interested in a remote "work form home" coaching position.

Look BK didn't get to the point he is in his career by being a slacker, these people are built differently from you. He may have gotten burned out, he may have lost the love for it because of NIL, or what but their is a decent chace he doesn't want LSU to be his legacy

He'll do a few obligatory (wink, wink) interviews to satisfy the terms of his deal with LSU.

Is there nothing in the contract that explains in detail what “pursue meaningful employment” means? I guess you can make him pursue (and detail whatever that means) but at the end of the day, you can’t make him accept

Agree, but at 64 it seems highly unlikely that coaching burnout can be turned around. He just seems over it.

floating Kelly's name as a possible replacement

Part of his contract stipulates he actively looks for work. Trace Armstrong is leaking his name for show..BK is done coaching and said as much when he came here

All those reasons make the AD look like a dumb asse for giving him a huge buyout, we got taken for a retirement party!

Kelly would only be considered for G6 schools or lower. He thinks that's beneath him, I'm sure, but that's his only option at this point.
