He’s also had the top recruiting class in their conference three years straight.

This. If he was tearing shite up at Memphis or BYU they’d be all over him.

Once the pipe dreams evaporate (Riley, Urban, etc.) and the big-but-feasible names (Franklin, Aranda) start moving on, there will be a sudden affection for Napier

I mean, do you want us to steal him?

I feel like there is another factor here... Schools that put HCs in Power 5 positions are seen as stepping stones and often can find young and up-and-coming coaches that ignore other G5 programs.

I think most of us remember Curly Hallman. A smaller school coach with limited success is no guarantee. I personally think he is the one with the most upside but a big risk.

He has done damned near miracles at ULL.

He coaches at UL... He is persona non grata to the money bags around LSU.

Lipsey, et al didnt pony up to fire Ed, just to hire our little sisters HC down the street

Unproven winner at a high level. He’s a solid coach, no doubt. Just not good enough to be LSUs first option. He’ll be considered if the list dwindles to that point.

This.

He's 1-4 against ranked opponents and hasn't sniffed a NY6 bowl or decent bowl game like other G5 coaches in the past.

There's your answer.

Why go to ULL when you are able to poach a more proven person from a major conference?

Three words. Curley. fricking. Hallman.

People said the same shite about him. Disaster.

Napier is on a tricycle. Let him graduate to a two wheel with training wheels first.

Wouldn’t hate it at all if it came to that.

I like Napier as well. This guy is a good coach. He is winning with a below average QB. His teams are disciplined. Watching his games live at the stadium, he is in tune with all that is going on, his players respect him, and they are efficient in their approach with game management as far as substitutions, getting the play off in time and playing to their strengths. In my opinion, football is football, no matter the level. He would be very successful at LSU.
