The only thing we know is it will be a lazy hire.

For the OC and passing coordinator, he had his assistant call Brady for suggestions. Didn't even make the calls himself. Brady named two guys and Orgeron hired them. Apparently never interviewed anyone else.

For DC, all he had to do was get Derek look at The Rant. Freeman's name was all over the board, so Orgeron publicly states that's his number one guy. Seems like he didn't interview anyone else.

Joe Brady fell in his lap and it was great hire. These hires this year may turn out to be great, but Orgeron has a history of lazy hires. Maybe he'll get lucky.

O's job is potentially on the line. Not sure why he would risk it just promoting from within

If this fails badly, he aint gonna get another shot to fix it.

O was hired from within, so I don’t think that’s the issue. Also, if he didn’t want his job on the line he should have thought a little harder on the last DC hire...

Maybe Raymond doesn’t want the job? He might like making 600k without the DC responsibility

Every d coordinator has not called played until someone gives them a chance

But not every DC gets his first chance at LSU

Idk what defense he would run.

How often do schools hire from within after they fire their coordinator?

He’s coached DBs for 20 years.

You understand there is a pretty big difference between being a good position coach and being a good coordinator.

And there is a big gap between dumbass and best man for a high end coordinator position.

He has even been an assistant on a good 4-3 for a long time

Peetz never called plays before either

Difference is if Peetz screws up a call, he has 2nd and 3rd down to fix it....if a DC screws up a call, it’s a TD

Can we just try and understand what he has been asked to do as a coach... he has coached dbs for at least 3 DCs... and had to teach different techniques and principles in all these different schemes... he also has to know the Defense make sure the Dbs don't play out of position.... he has to know timing of pressure and where his guys have to cover up for LBs and Safeties he has been in the NFL as a player and I'm sure he know that too... I'm for experience but the guy is capable I'm sure... he might not want it but if he does why not give him a Co-DC to help him learn

They need to hire zach arnett

He runs a 3-3-5 just like freeman. He also coaches linebackersz so corey could have the secondary to himself still

Arnett needs to be the choice. Get the word out to derek

I feel like if LSU or any team for that matter felt like he was capable of being DC then he would be one right now.
