Why isn't anyone mentioning Pinkel's name?

If Les left, i would definitely give this a guy a look. His team can play.

I was just thinking the same thing.

One good year is all that he's had, his QB is the reason.

good coach or 1 year wonder?

That program has been coming back for a few years now. They were a DOORMAT and have made consistent progress.

His handling of Brad Smith was embarrassing.
He's not a very good coach, IMO, and certainly isn't SEC caliber.

Exactly. People don't realize that he had a Rich Brooks job. It was a basketball school and now they have actually been winning in football. His team beat Spurrier in the Indy bowl in Sport a few years ago when they had Brad Smith. Missouri may have had just this one great year, but the guy has built a good foundation for a program.
Same with Leavitt. haven't heard his name as often as i thought was going to happen. I thought he would be all over the place.

Not pitching for him. Just stating that he has made consistent progress.

He didn't mis-handle Brad Smith - He switched the offense to a spread becasue he's such a good coach - he realized he couldn't compete against the Big 12 teams with his system. He actually sat down with Urban Meyer to learn more of the spread - he knew his new recruit Chase Daniel could run that offense effectively and they could compete...and compete they have.

2006
8-5 (4-4)
2005
7-5 (4-4)
2004
5-6 (3-5)
I want more consistency than that

His teams were thought to have underachieved before this one, not sure about him. But, if he were on the radar, who's to say he comes, he may think he can dominate that division for a while.

So you rather them be consistent and go 5-6 every year?
Every year since '04, they have gotten better. What more do you want? I think he is a good coach. I am not pitching his name either. I am just suprised more teams are not looking at him.

You left off the 2007 numbers. I believe they are ranked NUMBER ONE right now. You will remember that Missouri was a program on par with Ole Miss a few years ago and are now one game away from playing for the National Championship with far less talent than we have. I would say that is pretty good progress!

The BIG XII North has been one of the worst divisions in NCAA football in those years and that's all he's done.

If he can lose 5 and 5 and 6 games the last 3 years, has never won anything before this year's DIVISION championship....THAT record makes him a good coach? A one year wonder, that fits for now.

Do you really put any stock in that ranking? You'd bet money that they'll beat #9 OU on Sat?
Posted on 11/26/07 at 4:07 pm to okietiger13
No, I think they will lose. It would, however, be equivlent to Ole Miss being ranked #1 just before the SEC Champ game.

I have no idea what you're saying here?
