There were rumors from his time at Rutgers and at Tampa that he is a grade A a-hole. That is tolerable while winning championships, but he doesn't have any important ones that I can recall. I think this is the main beef, too easy to negative recruit against maybe

True, but he can get a team wins and he ran a clean program.

It took Kyle Flood 3 full years to ruin what Schiano had built, and Flood was Halman level awful as a HC

He is a huge douche and his last head coaching job was a failure.

Dude killed it at Rutgers though.

I don’t think he’d do well in the SEC for a lot of the same reasons Bret Bielema failed so miserably, but I think he’d be a great fit at a place like Nebraska.

There was a long article in S.Illustrated back when Rutger's was winning, the gist of it being NFL scouts were close to boycotting his team because of his arrogant, a-hole rules about where & when they could get access to players. He had/has the rep of being one of the biggest assholes in college football. FWIW.

i think past tense is more applicable

during his time away from coaching, by most/all accounts, he seems like he put in a lot of introspection on what it takes to get better

do you expect a coach at Rutgers to win any championship? he had a nice run there, not sure how other coaches did there off the top of my head

Rutgers was a disgrace before Schiano. Schiano did so well that Rutgers got an invitation to the B10.

Kyle Flood kept things going for the first 2 years after Schiano, and then the whole thing fell apart on him.

Rutgers is a disgrace again. Chris Ash appears to have things going in the right direction, but it will probably take another 2-3 years before the program is close to respectable.

Schiano was an assistant under Sandusky. He knew about what was happening.

I think because he is very similar to Bobby Petrino (albeit on the defensive side of the ball). Not quite as slimy, not quite as successful, but a huge doucher at the end of the day.
