Why is Rhule a homerun and Campbell is considered Tier 2?

I'd be happy with either, but their resumes are nearly identical with Campbell having a longer track record at both of his stops and more success against ranked teams.
They both did very well building up MAC teams and winning the conference.
They both did very well building (Iowa State) and rebuilding (Baylor) lower level Big 12 programs. They both got their teams to a NY6 bowl game. Baylor lost to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and Campbell crushed Oregon in the Fiesta bowl.
Their recruiting has been pretty similar.
Rhule hasn't had much success against ranked teams (I think someone posted he was 2-16). Campbell on the other hand is 13-16 against ranked teams at Iowa State.
Is it the NFL experience that makes Rhule more desirable? Campbell probably could have gone to the Jets a couple of years ago and turned down the Lions this past offseason. I'm not sure that a couple of years being mediocre in the NFL is great experience for being a successful college coach, though.
Anyway, like I said, I'll be happy with either, but don't understand why the perceptions of the two are so drastically different.

There are really no homeruns. Let's be honest, Rhule is bunt single at best.

I think Rhule's quick progressions from turning around Temple (perennial basement dweller) and then Baylor coming off the sanctions and history at that program coupled with Rhule's quick ascent to the NFL made him look like a more attractive candidate than Campbell.

Rantards are the explanation

Well, Campbell already said no to LSU so there is that.

Campbell has underachieved IMO with Brock Purdy as his QB.

Campbell barely scraped together a .500 record with an AA RB and 4 year starting QB. Lettuce also not forgot he got boatraced at home by ULoL and gets mudstomped by his biggest rival every year.

Neither is a home run, I don’t even know if they are ground rule doubles

A lot of positive comments about Campbell here last night. Don’t agree with either statement. I’d take either without much complaining… at least until the recruiting class is settled.

People have to catch, block, play defense. Saban lost to UAB and ULM. We never hired those coaches who beat him.

Is Brock Purdy supposed to be a first round draft pick or something?

I;m the troll? You guys and your insanity with home runs, grand slams and splashes... by the time the week is over... you'll be wishing they just hire Les back.

They both are bottom dwellers

He was a couple of years ago and has regressed every season.

Campbell is a real solid choice and will build a more consistent long term program for success.

Rhule is a "homerun" in Single A stadiums.

Is there a link to this claim? I've seen some very loose "reporting" he may have turned down USC, but not anything regarding LSU.

Ah, kinda like Spencer Rattler, but everyone wanted Lincoln.

Because Rhule has experienced an updated trajectory at every school he's coached at. Campbell is flatlining hard. This year is the proof.
