Why is everyone so high on Riley?

His teams routinely get dusted when they play good SEC teams.
Let me guess.. OU struggled against Kansas today because Lincoln is already focused on LSU?
You could hire Kiffin and get the same results for several million less than it’ll take to get Riley

I could see OU hiring Kiffin honestly if we got Riley
I'd take Riley if it was guaranteed grinch would be gone and he'd hire someone like Schumann, McDonald or Pruitt.

He blasted Florida last year and the UGA semifinal was a classic.
He got roasted by a generational LSU team and Bama.
He's not doing as bad as you think.

Riley meets all the criteria that made LSU successful with the Saban and Miles hires. A proven winner at a power 5 program, he can recruit, and he has won some big games. That formula has resulted in the greatest run in program history.

I’m not opposed to Riley but I’d always be worried he would eventually want to scratch his NFL itch. And 11-12 mil (if true) is pretty high.. but it’s not my money.
Kiffin is the same as Riley with less skins on the wall.

Riley also fits Scott's past hires to a T, I'm really starting to think it's Riley that Woodward is after, especially after the little revelation tonight

Why have his defenses not been very good?
Not trolling- honest question. Can he just not get the players to go to OU on that side of the ball?

He doesn’t have fertile recruiting ground for defensive studs

Not defense obviously but I wonder if he could/would bring Caleb Williams with him

Oklahoma's rep and want to have a great defense left with Venables to Clemson
It isn't a Riley thing.
He's tried it with Stoops and then Grinch

See people say this, but you’re a coach at a blue blood program with success in your league. Until the last year he really hasn’t had to worry about Texas out recruiting them in the big 12. He should be able to go pluck who he wants from where he wants. LSU whether it was miles or o has gone into Alabama, Georgia, and Florida to get top tier talent. Why hasn’t he?

I did a thread earlier today on here listing a bunch of reasons to stay clear of him.

Yeah, but no one gave a frick about that

Talent levels for defensive players has always been lacking in the Big 12 in general. They have one or two great players on defense and the rest are below average. SEC teams have more consistent talent across the board on defense. Maybe he wouldn’t get “dusted” as you say if he was coaching the team with that talent on both sides of the ball.

The issue is that he doesn’t secure the talent! It’s not like you walk into LSU, and instantly get better recruits than OU. I argue it’s harder to recruit LSU bc of the other teams in the SEC than it is at OU.
