If we get that last yard vs Florida most are cool with the hire.

I wanted Herman in a bad way. Alleva sucks. That said, I think O is better than Miles and we will be fine.

Who out there was a better option than O? I'm still not convinced Jimbo or Herman were better options

It's not worth the effort if you need to be told the answer to that

Gundy, Fleck, Fedora, Franklin, that's just off the top of my head.

How about explore coaching candidates beyond two of the most obvious names out there?

Fleck
Taggart

Two names that should have at least been approached. They did the LEAST amount of work.

Y'all wouldn't have been happy if it wasn't Herman or Fisher. What did they do? Threw a crazy offer at Fisher and a substantial offer at Herman.

They basically tried for everything we wanted. Even the "why not wait it out and rush this crowd" is a little out of the loop. Pressing Herman now was our last right hook to throw. If we got into a bidding war and lost, it makes us look even weaker.

They swung for the fence and struck out.

Herman and Jimbo were FAR better options. And PJ Fleck shouldve been next target after Jimbo and Herman fell through

Not freaking out. Just done with LSU until they decide to get serious again about the program.

For a coaching decision such as this, I expect LSU to:
- Target more than 2 guys before they simply give the job to its DL coach;
- Negotiate for more than a week before settling on their DL coach; and
- Make sure they have the requisite "A-tier" DC and OC before they announce giving the job to its DL coach.

LSU had actually set up their position nicely playing Fisher and Herman off of each other. While they were doing that they should have also contacted about a dozen of the agents for top college and/or pro coaches to gauge interest and begin negotiations. After about 2 months of that process, if they can't find someone better than their DL coach, they offer the job to him ONLY AFTER ensuring Aranda, the most talented coach on staff is nailed down.

That's what I wanted from LSU. That's how I would have run the negotiations if I were leading the team for LSU. That's how Alabama, U of M, Ohio St. and other elite programs would have structured the negotiations.

Why the frick is this not clear to every thinking person?

If Orgeron would not have been on any other Top10 program's radar, why in the flying frick should he have been #3 on ours? Squatters rights in the office?

Not to mention...who taps an interim coach and tells him he's gonna be a legit candidate for the job? all he's done the rest of the season is fricking campaign for the job and run his buddies in the press out to mold PR.

Yep, how many schools have tried to hire Ed, since the Ole Miss debacle (as a HC)?

Continuity dumbass. The flexibility to have the requisite $$ to pay any OC/DC top money in the country. If Aranda stays, we still have the best coach available on our staff and that may very well include Herman.

If Aranda bolts I'm jumping off the bridge with everyone else. But you better bet your arse O and LSU are locking him down as #1 priority now.
