So it's bc they want to show how rich and important they are, not bc they think he's a very good coach?

Interesting logic.

He's qualified, just not as a premier option. He's a fallback guy. 5-6M/year guy

Interesting logic.

Why would they be making these investments for a guy who is 100% leaving soon?

These are for the next guy/long haul. Not for Napier. Nape probably won't be there in 2022 regardless

Top programs win their conference, especially when they spend more than anyone else they're competing against

Like I said, building, not built.

Look at aggie. They've probably spent more than any program in CFB and have managed a best season of 2nd place in the SEC west.

I already said weeks ago I'd take Napier for 50% of Jimbo's salary over Jimbo

Lol I mean he’s turned down other SEC offers & hasn’t had any set backs as a coach. He is prime to take over something bigger. A perennial top 20 program

Well Napier's star could very easily lose its shine in a couple weeks. They will get a rematch with App St in the Sun Belt CCG and I wouldn't be surprised if they lose. App St's only other loss was a 2 pt loss to Miami in a game they should have won. They are a very good team.

Like everyone says one game shouldn't determine a coach search, but Napier is a polarizing choice so he will be given no mercy if they lose.

Either way I'm riding with team Aranda/Riley. Give me one of those two.

They are going to whip App st again

They beat Liberty on the road worst than board fav Kiffin did at home

They will beat ULM worse than LSU did yesterday

That’s straight up Alleva bullshite and Woodward isn’t worth half of what he’s being paid if that’s how he conducts a search.

No it's not Alleva bullshite.

Ed was a position coach with an overall losing record as HC when Alleva hired him, then said some bullshite like "it was Ed all along."

Napier has taken a perennial cellar dwellar to 10+ wins three years in a row. He's doing the very thing Ed never could.

Woodward is obviously trying to get Riley, but I'm not sure many people know how hard it is to pry a blue blood's coach from them, and I'm sure even less people will appreciate that Napier is a damn strong hire if that's who Woodward hires.

ALLEVA...Please make it stop!!! Quit blaming Alleva....All the AD does is put together a search and then put those names in front of the board and big money boosters....He did not put Ed up...Ed was already up because he was the interim Head Coach..The same board and same boosters that hired ED will also call the shot on this hire...It's how it works...Alleva had Jimbo on the list with also Herman who everyone wanted....The board and LSU would not pay the money so you got ED..

What concerns me about him is as the HC/OC his offense is not very good. They take a long time to get settled and don't seem to have an identity. Lewis has been the QB for 4 years and although he's going to be a team record holder, does not look like he's developed very well. He's extremely inconsistent and although his numbers look pretty good, watching his play is not impressive. Kind of like Max - great numbers, but the inconsistencies are significant.

Levi is 5'9" with hands as small as a ten year old boy. But Levi is a winner, he's a game manager, he makes up for it with his legs...almost un-sackable ..There are better passers on the bench but this kid is smart and just wins....hard to take him out so Billy built this huge line and taught great blocking schemes and runs it down your throat till the pass opens up...I like him because he coaches to what he has...makes it work...even when they play bad he still wins!!!

Bigger recruiting budget = better recruiting

Bigger coaching salary pool = ability to hire better assistants and allow Napier to be choosy about his next step

More money for infrastructure = more appealing program

Over 6 - 10 years, sure. Its not making a substantial difference on his wins/losses right now. Their facilities probably are average for their level still and the money for the program probably wasn't there day 1 but came after he became a commodity.

He's his own OC, he promoted a young DC up from on staff. He lost a DC to Baylor, an OC to coach OL in the pros. So, it's not bringing in a high paid ringer to turn around one side of the ball or anything doing it or even able to retain the guys he has.
