This is pure speculation but:

Kevin Steele is supposed to be leaving Auburn and he wants to stay in Alabama for the retirement. I wonder if Saban has already lined up Steele to replace Golding and he doesn’t have to rush to make it official because he already has his replacement lined up.

I’ve just read on different boards that he got tired of working with Gus. I don’t know if that’s true but it’s more believable than he got fired.

Refresh my memory. Didn't Steele leave Bama because him and Nick didn't really mesh well defensively?

I’ve slept since then so I could be off a little. I’m pretty sure he left came back a few years later and wasn’t happy because he went from being DC and Kirby being a defensive assistant to the roles being reversed.

He was basically demoted after 2007 when Kirby was given the full DC role and title.

But he came back in 2013 in a support staff role before being promoted to LBs coach in 2014.

lol, Steele will go right back to being mediocre as soon as he doesn't have first round draft picks in his front 7.

He's had our defense legit since he got here. You don't know what you're talking about

That's a nice story you just completely made up.

Not at all. It was brought up by one of your posters on your board and linked on our board, then the thread got deleted. I haven’t seen anything since then that has disputed it.

One of the reasons Alabama sucked this year

LOL, wish Georgia Tech sucked this year as bad as Alabama did. I guess their is another dimension of “sucked” that we fell into instead.

He inherited top 10 draft picks on his d-line and suddenly became an above average coordinator for the first time in his life.

So actually, this makes him perfect for Alabama since Saban only seems interested in yes men that nobody else wants nowadays.
