Why hasn't Pete Golding been fired?

Texas and USCe are firing coordinators. Probably some others. IIRC Gus fired Ellis Johnson the day after losing the IB in 2014. Why wasn't Golding fired first thing Sunday morning? Further evidence to me that Saban is completely washed up and needs to be Bobby Bowden'd.

There are rumors he's been dealing with serious personal issues. Whether those are temporary/situational or more long-term in nature, I'm not sure.

Because he isn’t getting fired. One of the reasons Alabama sucked this year is the constant changing of coaches. At some point you have to ride someone out.

Exactly. And it couldn't be that he had to play a couple of true freshman ILB's the entire year. Or the attrition left behind by a few D linemen leaving early. There wasn't a true upperclassman leader on that defense. I wouldn't be surprised if he is let go if there is a top notch more experienced DC available. But, at some point, you have to stop the revolving door and stick with your hire.

No idea. I'm not really in the know, I just heard this 3rd or 4th hand, I don't know anything more specific than what I already said.

Correct me if I'm wrong but has Saban ever fired an assistant? At worse, his contract won't be renewed after next year.

Exactly.. Bama fans bitched about how much turnover they’d been having, now they want Golding fires ASAP. The guy also had to deal with true freshman LB’s and youth elsewhere on D..

Kiffin got cut loose in between playoff games. Was a big mistake since we lost with Sark to Clemson the next week.

We lost b/c Bo got hurt and Jalen was Jalen. The game against Washington was ugly b/c the offense was out of sync.

He was working with a serious case case of bad coaching luck this season. Lost his entire linebacker crew in the preseason and significant parts of his D-line and had to replace the whole bunch with freshmen as their was zero depth. Comparing him to Smart/Pruitt as a DC is not easy as neither ever had the same misfortune and both had tons of depth. The casual fan ignores those things and just wants retribution. His position group was a disaster, a freshman who should be playing maybe fullback in a run scheme and another frosh who was a position change. Both running around like a chicken with his head cutoff. Must have been confusing to an OC scouting the Tide to figure out just where they would be.

Golding will be gone. Sabah won't announce it this early, but he's gone

Here's what I can't ignore. A defense that looked just as lost and confused in week 12 as in week 1. A true freshman QB who had played like a true freshman all year suddenly looking like a 4 year starter. A coach who had the audacity to claim with a straight face that their offense was a "work in progress" in week 10 looking like a genius playcaller. A loss to a rival they had no business losing to for the second time in three years, and the supposed GOAT coach whining and making excuses after the game.

I'll be nice and leave out the LSU game, though as far as I'm concerned Alabama had no business losing that game either.

So fine, I've been assured that Saban is infallible and cannot be held accountable for these things. The least he can do is hold someone else accountable. If he won't even do that he can frick off to the Cowboys for all I care.
