Mel Tucker the guy ?? Are you kidding me ? A .500 record . Played nobody , squeaked by Michigan , lost to 5-3 Iowa St . Actually , Iowa St dominated the entire second half . His team played very undisciplined football . Targeting penalties , roughness penalties , penalties . Can he recruit ? nobody knows , but he is riding on his transfer portal running back . Without that kid …Meh !

Mel Tucker lost a game.

We only want coaches who have never lost.

It's because the Jimbo talk is really starting to pick up. I still wouldn't count Mel Tucker out even with the loss at Purdue if Jimbo does turn us down.

Because Mel Tucker is dead last on the coaching candidate list.

With his very unimpressive overall record as HC, beating either Michigan or Ohio State was a MUST, and beating Purdue was absolutely essential.

Fail.

Worst thing about him is his name. It's pedestrian. Mel Tucker.

Sounds like Ike the guy who owns the general mercantile on Green Acres.

Because his team lost to Purdue and their defense sucks and he's the de facto defensive coordinator for them given his coaching background

From what I’ve heard Mel Tucker is an extremely real possibility

Because he lost to Purdue and this board is very reactionary

That's not just this board. I think the talk died down after Ranter's looked into his record. Michigan wins is all he has to hang his hat on. May end up regretting him not getting the job but this year isn't in the cards for him here.

It’ll be tucker. Listen to all the aggies. They know what’s going on in our coaching search. Any time I want the real inside info on LSU athletics I go to the Aggie boards.

How about LSU hires an above average coach while still established? Not someone who has been fired for their defenses and has an overall record of 15-13. It blows my mind that this is even being considered and people like Moscona say to get use to the idea.

I can see both sides of it. On the one hand he doesn’t have the skins on the wall and for a defensive guy his defenses haven’t been that good outside of Kirby.

On the other hand I think it’s hard to hold 1 year at Colorado of all places or the covid year when he came to Sparty after signing day in a weird situation against him.

He’s definitely improved them significantly in year 2 which is what you look for and he’s a great recruiter/has a great reputation in coaching circles.

Put a guy like that at LSU and if he can put forget a good staff we can be right back in the thick of it pretty quickly.

For what it’s worth, the Michigan State people adore him
