re: Why are some of you actually getting your hopes up that Saban comes back as your coach?

Saban is the smoke screen for Kiffin

We have A LOT of stupid fans. On the one hand, half the base thinks we are bringing back Saban. On the other hand, we have people legitimately suggesting we hire Kelvin Sheppard.

I don't think it's going to happen, but I don't think it's that unreasonable. As I get older I know more and more retired people. One thing they tell me is that they can't quit. They need something to do. There's no part of me that thinks Saban is about to spend his days mulling about in a garden, taking 3 PM naps, and doing crossword puzzles. If he was going to do that, he would be doing that. Instead he's working a relatively tough TV job. Have you seen the hours the Gameday folks put in? It's not like he's part-timing at Starbucks. I would not be shocked if he came out and said that he felt he never excelled in the NIL era the way he did in the late 00s, early 10s, and wanted to make sure that he wasn't a fraud. Guys like that don't buy into what everyone else is saying. Gun to my head, I'd bet Saban hears the talk of what he's done and thinks he gets way too much praise. He likely thinks of his frick ups way more than his success. So I don't think age has much to do with it here. I think his wife and daughter have a lot more to do with it. For that reason, I don't think he coaches again. But the age thing is silly to anyone who has been around successful people who retire.

Yeah but the other side of this is that no matter who they pick, its not Nick Saban.
So it could be a total homerun hire like say Dan Lanning...
Doesn't matter, not Nick

You left out the most important part of my post.
I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think it will be Kiffin.
But thanks for eliminating the context.
Since reading comprehension is tough on here, I’m stating that many you are retarded and to say yes or no blankly eliminates critical thought. It’s not as simple or yes or no and many avenues exist in between.

You think people are serious ?
Posted on 11/4/25 at 8:49 am to Hawgnsincebirth55
Because watching the Bama fans lose their minds over the very thought of Saban returning to LSU has been very satisfying.

They are delusional.
Posted on 11/4/25 at 8:54 am to Hawgnsincebirth55
Because they actually think it's funny or humorous. They can't wrap their head around the fact that it was funny back when when Les was fired or when Ed was fired.... but at this point, the damn Humane Society needs to get involved because that horse has beat to death.

horseshite. 90% of these posts are serious as a heart attack. It's the same shite LSU fans do all the time since I've been on this site. They'll run their yaps before a game or prior to the season about how LSU is going to win the NC or crush next week's foe. Then, when they get called out on it the excuse is, "We're from Louisiana. We're emotional. What do you expect?"
It's a ready made excuse and cheap fall back for when their mouths write checks the Bayou Bengals can't cash.

Sums up lsu fans. They say they don't think it'd happen...while posting multiple threads about it happening lol.
It's sad really. So when they actually do make their hire, they're all going to have to put on a brave face and act happy while saying they knew all along Saban wasn't realistic. And everyone will be laughing at Corndog U.

It’s only funny bc it draws the bama fans in to tell us all the reasons it would never happen
Watching that level of insecurity and self-reassurance is priceless

I really want it to happen now just to see how people like yourself melt about it
