Either officially or unofficially. To keep the recruits in the fold and current players out of the transfer portal. I know Scott is cagey but there are other factors at stake.

Yeah as much as it’s sucks, that’s just a part of the process.
Changing coaches is gonna create some uncertainty and inevitably some transfers out and lost recruits.
It just is what it is, gotta make a great hire and move forward after that. We’re not the first, and certainly won’t be the last, to go through this uncertain process

Yeah, I'm thinking that's why you have all the Tucker, Riley, Dabo talk suddenly. Trying to buy as much time as possible, before announcing the coach he locked in already.

This board and really talking heads like Rabalais and voices without a body like Culotta and Moscona are floating these names in order to get readers and clicks. I have no doubt that Woodward has feelers out all over.
The problem with any high end coach is time. If Riley, for example, runs the table and makes the playoff for example do you really think he would want to ruin his chances in the playoff by saying he's bailing? Same with Mel Tucker and to a lesser extent with Fisher. Fickell ain't coming you can back a Terex Titan to his house loaded with gold bricks and he might consider .

It’s not like it’s a rare thing for OU to be in the playoff. If we somehow convinced him to come to LSU, it will be because he feels like he can’t win in the playoffs at OU and the conversation will be moot anyway

There is no way LR signs anything before he loses out. And if he wins his 1st championship, he is not leaving at all.
And SW is not letting every single coach he wants, sign elsewhere while LR won't put his name on a piece of paper. Riley is already out at this point.
