Oklahoma is allowing 13.5 points per game this year. LSU is allowing 16.0. Oklahoma will have at least 4 players from their front 7 this year playing in the NFL next year. Their defense is just as good, if not better than LSU's.
Oklahoma is scoring 31.1 points per game despite their injuries on offense. LSU is scoring 25.5 points per game with little to no injuries.
Oklahoma has a better coaching staff than LSU as well.
If you are going to talk shite about a team, at least talk shite to the right ones dumbass.

In the long run, balanced passing, running, and the ability to do both well produces the best long term results. Fads play out -- wishbone, fun and gun, spread option ......... Most pro teams, Alabama, USC, Perino& Arkansas, etc. run pro-style offenses -- that is my point in this thread. A lot of people on this board are constantly harping on spread / fun and gun and other gimmicks. LSU needs an offensive identity and pro style is what we need -- not Crowton's experimental madness, and not Sumlin's either.

The wishbone dominated CFB for decades. The Fun n Gun dominated the SEC for a decade and the spread option won 2 of the last 4 BCSNC's.

Fun and Gun won at least a share of 7 SEC titles and a National title. Urban Meyer's offense has won him 2 national titles. The "gimmick" offenses have worked just fine in the SEC.
Now let's look at the NFL: The top 5 scoring offenses in the NFL this year all use the Shotgun liberally with 3-4-5 wide receivers and it works just fine for them - and that doesn't even include the Colts or the Cardinals. Just because a team spreads out a defense and passes alot doesn't mean that they never run. Hell once teams get a big arse lead passing, they usually sit on it with the i-formation running.
For someone who claims to have watched football for 48 years, you don't know shite about the game of football.

Hey gimmick offense offense lovers, I didn't abandon this thread. Went to have a drink of whiskey with a friend. My sole point of this thread is that the reason most pro teams do not employ gimmick fun and gun, spread option, and never adapted the wishbone is because balanced running, passing, and traditional offenses establish more of an identity and win more often than this junk. I like the Bama, USC, Arkansas, Stanford, Saints, Patriots, Eagles and other pro style offenses.

Hey Max, I didn't base anything on the game today about Houston's offense, only used it as a launching pad to give my opinion on the reasons why LSU should not go in this direction as many on this board advocate. I've watched this style for years and don't care for it.

i'm with you 7 Moves. it's really pretty easy to assess. balanced pro-styles win all or almost all of the NC's. UF's spread still contained the power running component with Tebow. it's just that the "grass is greener" syndrome abounds amongst many fans. i expect most of these are the younger fans that don't really have a large "universe" of experience to draw from nor have they played the game. it's really pretty funny to read what some of our fans want to do....fire miles, crowton, stud, chavis, haley. pay the $20 million or so to get rid of them and then hire guys that have only had one good year but are "hot" right now and tie them up with expensive outs. oh well, money grows on trees i guess.
