didn't know early in the day yesterday that he would be meeting with Michigan last night?

yea that was a little odd..

I don't think he was deliberately lying as much as he just doesn't know how to talk about this situation.

He could have been planning on meeting them in Dallas today, but maybe Michigan wanted to meet him yesterday and sent DB down to discuss?

I think he knew he was but he tried to use some type of coach speak to deflect. Not sure why he couldn't just say yes I am meeting with them though.

why would Miles lie about the timing? If they met last night or today, does it make a difference? He probably didn't know...his agent works out all of that stuff...

so then the 24hr thing is pretty much a worthless formality?
Posted on 1/11/11 at 8:14 am to Chicken
I feel like he had to know he was meeting with them like 8 hours after he was asked the question. I just didn't see the need to lie about it

Or how about the "I don't know the substance of the meeting that will take place" ?
Come on Les, yea you do

I doubt you really believe that..

I believe he was being deceptive, but not completely dishonest by wording the answer that a time and place had not been decided... it could have been something like, "We'll meet tomorrow, and have lunch, blah blah blah..." without giving Les specific details... making what he said kind of accurate. Few people will give such details out to their current employer, regarding an interview. I don't know why everyone thinks he should spill every detail about everything.

I wonder why people crucified Saban, he was just being deceptive

He could have just said, I'll tell you when I tell you. Which is probably what he is thinking. What is he really suppose to say. We are meeting at this place at this time and they are gonna offer me this and I'm gonna say that? Why?

I think they were, which would mean that either they knew before Miles or that Miles was being deceptive.

quote:I do believe that...I believe that Michigan and the agent work out the timing based on the facts at hand, which was that Miles was in Baton Rouge yesterday and would be flying to Dallas today. Michigan probably decided that they didn't want to wait until today to talk, given the urgency of the situation.
I doubt you really believe that..
Then, again, maybe Miles knew it was happening yesterday...what does it matter? It is better for us that it happened sooner...

you would have to ask those people. I believe a person has to keep things on the downlow when it comes to his/her career. It's just dumb to play cards with your hand face up.
