I’m sure there are at least 5 guys right now that are better and are ready to come to Baton Rouge

I don’t see it happening with everything going on at the university. I don’t think Ed has much leverage to demand changes on his staff.

There are countless reasons it could take a bit. Maybe buyout is cheaper on 1/1? Maybe they have a quick secession plan they’re trying to put in place? Maybe the buyout is being negotiated down?

He isn’t getting fired.

Let’s focus on why he is capable of doing with next years team

DL loses some dudes, but there seems to be talent there

Gaye, Olugari, Webb, Cherry, Little and the four incoming freshmen. Starters look good but we need a couple guys to step up for depth

At DT we will have Roy, Guillory, Taylor, Smith, and the kid who has flip flopped from OL

LB’s should get an I nfusion of talent. Baskerville, Clark return. Sampah and White get a chance to get in the mix. The JC kid should contribute immediately. Then you have Penn and hopefully Davis

At safety the three freshmen will have to play right away. It will be interesting to see who replaces Stevens as the box safety. He was exposed all year long. Someone with more speed and coverage ability needs to be there. Harris and Hampton were terrible this year. I think Hampton is best served in the box and not as a deep safety. Look for him to replace Stephen’s

CB should be strong. Stingley and Ricks are NFL starters. Ward really showed some improvement the second half of the season. Flott is an issue. Hopefully Ryan is the nickle CB. Radar must have been injured all year. McGlothern got some good experience and the kid from Pensacola looks to have talent

At the end of the day, our front four need to get more pressure for this defense to succeed. That and our replacement for Flott and Steven’s need to be ballers.

Anything close to this year in 2021 and Pellini will be gone pecan

You just named the defensive talent we had here this year and we put together the worst LSU defense in history. Why would next year be any different?

There was obviously a disconnect with Pellini and the players from day one. Either Pellini was unable to convey the defensive installation or the players didn’t buy into the system. Either way you have to move on.

I don't understand how people can keep saying this. Every LSU insider across 3 forums has said Pelini is gone and has been negotiating his buyout for weeks. You would have to have your head buried in the sand and visit this board once a month in order to not know this. Boosters lining up to pay the buyout. LSU stands to lose way more than the cost of a buyout if they retain him and he continues to not give a frick. He puts in the least time/effort of all the coaches on staff.

I’m pretty sure this decision comes from people above Ed’s head

So we suffer through a mediocre year to keep Pelini? Why not get a young innovator at dc?
Someone with a track record against the spread

You really think there is no chance for considerable improvement? I disagree.

Sampah and the JC kid can make a difference

Stevens and Flott being replaced can make a difference

Three new and athletic SDE coming in can make a difference

Hopefully we get a full Spring Practice schedule with all these young guys.

Agreed. Add to the above that he had to install as the season was on him.

Have we really devolved to that level as a program? We’re Texas, Nebraska, USC now? The HC doesn’t call the big shots...that’s a slippery slope!

He called the shot to get Pelini it failed miserably. Now he’s got to be removed. I don’t think Ed wants to keep Bo either but even if he does. Too bad.
