When does Kelly officially start coaching?

Will he be coaching for the bowl game or will he just be on campus and start recruiting till after the bowl game?

Brad Davis is coaching the bowl game.

If it were me I’d really want to be out of the practice field with the team as they got ready for the bowl.

I guarantee you he started as soon as he said "yes". He will be interviewing and choosing his staff, calling key recruits and reviewing/resetting the recruiting board, etc. Lots of ramp up stuff like any other job, as well ... getting accounts set up, meeting support staff, etc.

A new coaching the bowl game almost never happens, especially with a big time program

Probably a few phone calls to potential staff and current recruits after he lands today

They aren’t going to install Kelly’s stuff and then try to run it in a game. Like JV said, he’ll begin recruiting, hiring staff, and will mostly be hands off during bowl prep but use the opportunity to evaluate players.

he'd probably just be observing from a tower afar or something.

He needs to be there for the bowl practices because we need him to start building his culture.
