12-0 regular season.

This team needs to start beating Alabama with some regularity. I look at our losses from last year and see that these games should be wins this year. No reason not to go 12-0.

Not trying to piss on anybody's parade, but if we don't get the issues with the O-line fixed, we may see similar results as this year.
We need some guys from the portal or an Oline coach that can work miracles in a year.

7-5 or worse… disappointing but no need to panic
8-4…realistic
9-3 or better … exceeded first-year expectations

8 wins or more is reasonable, 9 wins or more is more likely.

11-1 floor 12-0 ceiling.

$10.5m just for completing the year and being bowl eligible. Expectations are to come in and compete immediately with the new recruiting rules.
First let’s get some staff in here. Not bringing any of his ND staff over hurts as far as recruiting goes. Precious days of recruiting are being wasted vetting coordinators and other assistants.

I think year one 10 games would be an exceptional success but it really depends on what happens between now and mid-January. If we are able to fill out the staff, salvage the recruiting class, and stop a mass exodus of transfers I think 10 games is definitely on the table.

8-4 would be a big improvement and great coaching job. The last two years have been that bad.

Exaclty. He’s already whiffed on bringing Sean Payton over as OC and reanimating Buddy Ryan for DC. This thing has dumpster fire written all over it. Pay the man is 95 mil and be done with this failed experiment

If Corral leaves UM, they wont be as good.

I'll be fine with 9-3 and happy with 10-2

9-3 would be a very solid first season. LSU has a culture problem and the roster needs upgrading

8-4 is the floor
I'd be okay with this, but considering the talent that is on this roster, you have multiple returning QB's and we were a few boneheaded plays away from winning another couple games this year, 9-3 wouldn't also be an unrealistic floor.

Personally I hate how people arbitrarily set an “expected” win total then use that as a gauge. College football isn’t the NFL, no two schedules are created equally.
We went 9-3 in the 2018 regular season and people melted over it at the time, but when you look back at that year we lost a competitive game with Florida (who finished the season ranked #7), we lost badly to Alabama (finished #2), and we lost the 74-72 game against Texas A&M (finished #16). When the dust settled that 9-3 record was good enough to get us to a NY6 bowl and we ended in the AP top 10.
Compare that to 2017 when we had a 9-3 regular season with losses to Troy (lol), Alabama (finished #1), and Mississippi State (finished #19). Then went on to lose to ND in the Citrus Bowl.
Bowl performances aside, the 9-3 regular season in 2018 was better (IMO) than the 9-3 regular season in 2017. We had a harder schedule in 2018 - Texas A&M and Florida were better, and we played UGA.
So to me it’s not so much about win total in year 1. So we beat the non-P5 teams on our schedule convincingly? Do we put up a fight against the best opponents? Do we show continuous improvement across the board? Perhaps most importantly - do we feel like we have a chance every time we hit the field?
I would like to see us win 9+ regular season games, but I’m not going to melt if we go 8-4 with a couple of tough losses to great teams while coming off of two consecutive .500 seasons, as long as the future looks bright.

Talent going into next season may be very overrated with plenty of holes to fill.

If I'm LSU, 9-3 is the floor for a $9.5 million coach.
I said when Riley was the talk he would be the 5th best coach in the west. Kelly makes a good case for 2nd.
