they [Ravens] are just paying the difference.

Is it really that difficult to comprehend?

So why isn't he coaching for even less than that? It would make more financial sense for him to sit out or completely backload his contract

Also, link

Pretty much anything LSU related is more immediately important than Saban's decision.

...to your point, Cam isn't going anywhere.

I can't help you if you are this stupid.

You said it yourself, the Ravens refused to divulge that information.

What did I say that was incorrect?

If the Ravens are paying him the difference, he should have either taken the year off or completely loaded the back of his contract.

Why take 600K from LSU if the Ravens are paying for it? How does that make any financial sense

He wanted the LSU Offensive Coordinator job. Which is why he accepted the position when it became open.

You do understand that there are stipulations in contracts, right?

I'm sure, and I'm just putting myself out there on a limb, but I'm sure a competent lawyer on the Ravens behalf would have protected themselves by inserting into the contract that they would pay the difference in what would be deemed as a "competitive salary" for the position that Cameron would take. But I'm just going out on a limb on that one.

I understand that, hence part 2

I don't think he would have coached this year if he was going to make the same amount of money regardless.

Also, wasn't his extension with the Ravens just 1 season?

With his son set to be Catholic High's starting QB, he's good for at least next year.

he [Cameron] wanted the offensive coordinator position. Why do you fail to grasp this?

Additionally, he secured himself making over $2.5 million for the next TWO seasons by agreeing to the LSU contract - a sum that was not guaranteed if he sat out the 2013 season.

I grasp that you are naive enough to believe that he would coach at LSU this season without any monetary benefit. I think he would have coached his son for a year if that was the case.

Also, quit being such a fricking prick

Like there wouldn't have been demand for him

How many years were left on his Ravens contract? I thought it was a 1 year extension. I don't think they are paying him this season

NO, LSU signed him to a "competitive salary" until his contract with the Ravens runs out. THEN they take on the full salary.

LSU hired Kragthorpe for $700,000 prior to the 2011 season, they [LSU] are paying Cameron $600,000 for this season and the Ravens are paying the difference between that sum and the one he agreed to prior to being fired by the organization.

It's really not that difficult to understand.

Huh?

You're asking a question that no one can provide definitive proof of an answer, but are refusing logical possibilities. In short, no answer is good enough for you.

I'm sure that the contract with the Ravens wouldn't let him work for someone else for free or $1.

As to why he didn't sit out a year, he has a job for the next two, has reestablished himself as a valuable commodity, and doesn't have to job hunt next season.

He wasn't going to be under contract with the Ravens this year. The owner wanted him gone in 2011, but Harbaugh fought for him. It was a 1 year extension.

I'm not failing to understand what you're saying at all. It is just incredibly naive to think that he would coach this season with little net monetary benefit. He was considered one of the top coordinators in the country when he signed here, he would have gotten paid.

So you think, as you called him, a "hot commodity" like Cameron would agree to a ONE-YEAR extension following the 2011 season from an organization that partially wanted him out the door to begin with, as you pointed out.

If you can find me anything that says he agreed to, again, a ONE-YEAR extension and not just an "Extension", then I am the moron and you are the greatest.

ESPN

quote:

The Ravens brought back Cameron before this season on a one-year deal. If Harbaugh already had decided (perhaps with a nudge from owner Steve Bisciotti) that Cameron wasn’t coming back next season, why wait until after the season? That makes no sense. If Jim Caldwell was going to be the offensive coordinator next season, he should be the guy calling the plays for the final three games and the playoffs.

Also, $600,000 for a SEC offensive coordinator is past a competitive salary. It was the highest salary for a coordinator in the conference this year. We backloaded his contract so that he wouldn't bolt and put in a $1 million buyout

Barring some totally unexpected, once in a lifetime, BIG TIME head coaching job offer I think we have Cameron at least until this contract runs out probably more.

He and les are very close friends and I think he honors the deal they agreed upon.

I also think that as long as he is fielding offenses like the one he put out this year that LSU will make sure he remains the highest paid assistant in the country. He also probably has a damn good shot at being Les' replacement when that time comes.

So unless he just prefers the NFL game to college I think we have him as long as we want him or until a major player in college football decides they want him as their next head coach.

Just from the Baltimore Ravens ESPN writer. How about you find me a link that says it was longer or that they are paying him this season.

cool, according to the USA Today database, Cameron was the highest paid offensive coordinator in the SEC.
