How long will Les get to turn them around? Les turned Oklahoma State around, but the best he ever did there was 9-4 and 3rd place in the Big 12 South.

Of course, he has done great at LSU, but he was handed a powerful program on cruise control.

Winning the Big Ten is about to get harder with the addition of the championship game.

He will not get the same amount of patience at Michigan like he did at Ok. St.

If Miles is not sniffing a Big 10 title by year 3 his job security there will not be good.

I would think he learned alot being in the SEC and would apply those lessons to the Big 10. Aggressive defenses, speed, etc.

Michigan boards I've seen seem to say 1 year pass winning 8 in year 2 and compete for Big 10 title in yr 3. One thing I've learned is that if they beat OSU and MSU then nothing else matters. That hatred runs deep.

I have to think Les would get a couple seasons of honeymoon period over there. Everybody knows the defense sucks, and the offensive personnel will have to be revamped for the old school ground and pound offense that Michigan fans and Les surely will crave. His ability to recruit will be one of his biggest selling points.

Michigan fanbase is pretty brutal. He'll get 2 years to right the ship. One less than Dick Rod because they're tired of losing. They want immediate results because the program has really been struggling past 5 years or so. I think this is one reason Miles isn't going to leave. He'd be stupid to leave with the contract he has now, much less a team that is very young and talented. Plus a incoming recruiting class that might turn out the best ever for LSU.

He should have a good 8 years to really take his time and get the program rolling in the right direction the way he wants to. Michigan is a very reasonable place unlike the negatigers who were just plain mean and impossible to please. 4 years from now we will have a coach miles won't necassarily have a job though. He is going into fire from the pan.

Almost would be worth it to shut up some of the Les is the best coach to ever grace LSU with his presence because of his record.

LSU is bigger than people realize. Miles is a good coach. The worst LSU will do will be to replace Good with good.

All honesty I wish him luck if he leaves, but I'd imagine he'd be in the top 3 in the BIG 10... But continuously struggle against SEC programs. No national titles guarantee.

He'd be asked to step down eventually if he stays mediocre.(he will improve their current status, right now I'd say they are downright bad) He's 57... They give him 5 years and he'll probably just retire.

The bar has been set. Three years to show improvement. 5 years to win it.

It all depends on when Les Miles would have the "want" to right the ship at Michigan. If he takes Crowton with him it will never happen.

Personally I hope he stays here.

RR's players, minus a couple are Big East quality, not Big 10. Take at least 2-3 years.

We would just need to see steady progress, that was the biggest problem with Rodriguez's teams, the defense sucked to start out the year and continued to throughout the whole year. That and getting back to recruiting top 10 classes like Michigan used to. If he does that, he will be fine.

The Mich faithful pushed out a NC winning coach in Carr, and he left a much better team than Miles would be getting. Its suicide.

But at least our offense would improve, drastically

He'll be what 60, 61 by the time they fire him, if he doesn't succeed?

If he invested his money well think he would just retire or take a tv job. I don't see les as the type that will have to be dragged from coaching.

Hell I wouldn't bet against him retiring in the next 5 years even if Michigan does well or he stays at LSU

Les is a good coach. He'll get at least 3 years before they start getting on him. While he didn't do that great at OSU, you have to realize OSU's place in its region. It is behind schools like OU, UT, and others for recruiting.

UM, on the other hand, is a top notch, flagship school with a deep history so recruiting there will be much easier. Also, now that he has an NC under his belt, that'll help him greatly.

If UM turns out to be mediocre, we'll learn that Les was made a "great" coach in the eyes of his lovers by LSU. If they are renewed Big Ten and NC contenders, Les will have made his mark as a great coach.

His legacy could be great there. People here will always question if he simply took over Saban's machine and won. UM is his chance to shed that albatross.

never underestimate a mans ego, you know this has to be on his mind and most of the fans as well.
