I was on 247 for a number of years. Shea gets good info. The fact no one on the lsu side is saying anything says alot. I'm sure we offered riley,and had serious talks, but im not buying anything is finished. Shea would have heard something.

Why would I tell Shea anything besides plant stories. He is just going to try and make money off whatever I give him or run to twitter.

Stoops I could eventually talk myself into by May or June. O’Brien would have me at Orgeron level reaction. I’d never accept him, and just wait for the day he was terminated.

if it's not Riley, then you'd have to think it's Aranda, then Campbell, then Stoops, then Napier... but with Aranda on the cusp of a new deal with Baylor and Napier looking like he's taking the Florida job, that leaves Campbell and Stoops, and I'm not sure Campbell is really looking to leave, so that leaves Stoops...
so, by process of elimination, it's either we hit a home run with Riley, or we bunt and pray we make it to first with Stoops

I don't take any of it as serious. I seen this board hyped and let down before.
That said, Riley I think comes. Too much smoke. LSU officials monitor this board whether people want to admit it...
They'd have cold water thrown on this somehow by now if there was nothing to it. The last thing they want is insurmountable expectations they'd be judged by...

Considering Napier and Aranda are both possibilities (no announced signings or extensions) makes me feel a little better. Either would be fine to me, if we are not getting Riley. Maybe not a home run, but maybe a standup double.

Shea is cool but he really doesn’t ever break anything note worthy that’s not related to recruiting specifically. He writes a bunch of words to tell you nothing you don’t already know.

You ain't.
That's the thing, it wouldn't be Woodward or LSU's fault that the fans set an unrealistic expectation and then pounced all over it. Nobody "official" has said a word about Riley to LSU, in fact most CFB reporters have said they heard he ISN'T the man.
It's not like the AD has strung anyone along and claimed they would bag a top 5 coach, even the "white whale" comment that everyone references wasn't from anyone in the AD.
The fact of the matter is, nobody knows who Woodward contacted or what he's thrown at them. He may have thrown everything at his disposal at Riley and he just won't budge because he loves OU. Sometimes money isn't everything.
So if you do end up with a Stoops, Napier, BoB, or some other "second tier" coach, I'm sure it's because Woodward tried his hardest and struck out everywhere else.
But y'all will be unreasonable and want him fired, even though it was out of his control. All he can do is talk to those that'll listen, he can't force a coach.

You're right that they read it, they absolutely do. But they possibly HAVE tried to throw cold water on it, it just got largely ignored by the fans because it's not what they want to hear.
The only thing I've seen from any actual "insiders" that get paid to actually talk about and report on CFB, is that it's NOT Riley. I'm sure the AD would leak it to someone like them if they wanted to throw cold water on a rumor, not some random poster on a message board.
The signs are there that they've possibly tried to quell this rumor, it just gets ignored like "that CFB reporter doesn't know anything, Woodward doesn't leak! But this random pharmacist poster on TD knows it's Riley!"
